ENGLISH

The poem is a song of love for Pakistan. It opens with the land itself: “O land of green, so rich and true, with skies so wide and rivers blue.” Mountains stand with pride, and the poet's spirit “soars beyond the sky”.

From the snowy peaks of the mighty North to the deserts glowing in the South, “each grain of soil, each blooming tree, whispers of love and liberty.” Nature is not just scenery here — it is proof of the country's beauty and freedom.

The flag of green and star so white “shines like a beacon in the night” — a symbol of guidance and hope that the people hold high, “both proud and strong”. The poem then turns to duty: “We'll work, we'll learn, we'll stand as one, until the brightest dream is won.”

It closes with a personal pledge: “O Pakistan, my home, my land, forever will I make my stand. With peace and love, I'll do my part — for you will always own my heart.” Love of country, in this poem, is not a slogan — it is work, learning, unity, peace and service.

3. 💡 Theme & Message — Nazm Ka Paighamمرکزی خیال اور پیغام

ENGLISH

کتاب کا Theme box (p.17): “The poem celebrates the beauty, strength, and spirit of Pakistan. It expresses deep love for the homeland, highlighting its natural landscapes, the national flag, and the sacrifices of its people. The poet encourages unity, peace, learning, and service to the nation, inspiring readers — especially the young ones — to play a positive role in the country's future.”

Symbols: the flag (green + white star) = unity, guidance and hope — “a beacon in the night”; mountains, rivers, deserts = the country's natural strength and diversity; “stand as one” = national unity. The poem's strongest emotion is pride and devotion (MCQ 6).

SDG connection (book p.23): the unit links the poem to SDG 4 (Quality Education — “We'll work, we'll learn…”), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

SDG تعلق (کتاب صفحہ 23): یونٹ نظم کو SDG 4 (معیاری تعلیم — ”We'll work, we'll learn…“)، SDG 16 (امن، انصاف و مضبوط ادارے)، SDG 13 (موسمیاتی عمل)، SDG 10 (عدم مساوات میں کمی) اور SDG 17 (اہداف کے لیے شراکت) سے جوڑتا ہے۔

4. ✍️ Grammar Point + Writing Skillگرامر اور تحریری مہارت
🏷 Tags: word families, analyze, analysis, analytical, advocate, advocacy
ENGLISH

Word Family Detective (p.21): words change form with use — analyze (verb: to examine closely), analysis (noun: the process/result of examining), analytical (adjective: relating to analysis); same pattern: advocate (verb) → advocacy (noun). Students complete the table for five root words and use each form in their own sentences, checking meanings in a dictionary/thesaurus.

Inferred meanings (pp.21–22, “The Forgotten Garden”): neglected = left uncared-for for a long time; deterred = discouraged / put off (Hania was “not so easily deterred” — she went in anyway); “hinges groaning in protest” = personification showing the gate was old and rusted; luminescent = glowing / giving off light; mesmerized = completely fascinated, unable to look away.

Writing — Dialogue (pp.23–24): the model dialogue “What Pakistan Means to Me” (Ali & Sara, school courtyard, after morning assembly) uses stage directions in brackets, the director's notes, and a justified ending — “Dreaming big, I see?” / “No sir, serving big.” Students then write their own dialogue with their own characters, scene and purpose. Proofreading & Editing (p.25): correct the “Responsible Citizen” passage (laws vs rules, littering, traffic rules, honesty) and exchange passages in groups of four for peer editing.

Reading skill: paragraphs join into a comprehensive text — the “Power of Trees” model shows main idea → danger (deforestation) → benefits → solutions/call to action.

Word Family — ek root, teen shaklenanalyze = verb (examine closely)analysis = noun (process / result)analytical = adjective (relating to analysis)advocate → advocacy (verb → noun)
Word family samjho: ایک ہی root تین شکلوں میں آتا ہے — analyze (verb), analysis (noun), analytical (adjective) — root پہچانو تو تینوں لفظ یاد ہو جاتے ہیں.
ورڈ فیملی: ایک ہی بنیاد فعل، اسم اور صفت کی شکل میں آتی ہے۔
شاعر کا نوٹ — کتاب میں کیا لکھا ہے؟
🏷 Tags: poet, Anonymous, no biography, poetry, credit
ENGLISH

Honest note: the book credits this poem as (Anonymous) — no poet's name and no biography are given in the unit. That is itself an exam fact: if a question asks “Who wrote My Beloved Pakistan?”, the book's answer is Anonymous.

The unit's own “Variety of Texts” section (p.20) uses this poem as its poetry example: “a patriotic poem describing the natural beauty of Pakistan, the unity of its people, and the hope for a peaceful future.” Do not attach any other poet's name to it — the book does not.

Poet: Anonymous (کتاب کے مطابق)Poem: My Beloved PakistanCredit in book: (Anonymous)Genre example: Poetry (p.20)کوئی نام یا سوانح کتاب میں نہیں
Poet note samjho: کتاب نے نظم کو Anonymous قرار دیا ہے — کوئی شعر کا نام یا سوانح چھاپی نہیں, اس لیے یہاں کوئی نام نہیں گھڑا گیا.
کتاب نے نظم کو گمنام قرار دیا ہے — کوئی شاعر کی سوانح چھپی نہیں۔

A. Reading and Critical Thinking — Answer the following questions (p.18)الف۔ ریڈنگ اور تنقیدی سوچ — درج ذیل سوالات کے جواب دیں
QUESTIONS + ANSWERS
1. What is the overall message of the poem?

Answer: Love Pakistan actively: admire its beauty, honour its flag and sacrifices, and serve it through unity, peace, learning and hard work — especially the young, who must play a positive role in the country's future. پاکستان سے عملی محبت کرو: اس کی خوبصورتی کو سراہو، اس کے پرچم اور قربانیوں کا احترام کرو، اور اتحاد، امن، تعلیم اور محنت سے اس کی خدمت کرو — خاص طور پر نوجوان، جنھیں ملک کے مستقبل میں مثبت کردار ادا کرنا ہے۔

2. How does the poet show love for Pakistan?

Answer: By praising its land (green fields, wide skies, blue rivers), its northern peaks and southern deserts, its flag, and by pledging personal service: 'We'll work, we'll learn, we'll stand as one' and 'With peace and love, I'll do my part'. اس کی سرزمین (سبز کھیت، وسیع آسمان، نیلے دریا)، شمالی چوٹیوں اور جنوبی صحراؤں، اس کے پرچم کی تعریف کر کے، اور ذاتی خدمت کا عہد کر کے: ”We'll work, we'll learn, we'll stand as one“ اور ”With peace and love, I'll do my part“۔

Answer: Green land/fields, wide skies, blue rivers, mountains with snowy peaks in the North, deserts glowing in the South, soil and blooming trees. سبز زمین/کھیت، وسیع آسمان، نیلے دریا، شمال میں برف پوش چوٹیوں والے پہاڑ، جنوب میں چمکتے صحرا، مٹی اور کھلتے درخت۔

5. How can students like you express patriotism in their daily life?

Answer: By studying hard, keeping the environment clean, respecting the flag, helping the community, being honest, and standing against injustice — the unit's dialogue says patriotism is actions, not just words or Independence Day posts. محنت سے پڑھ کر، ماحول صاف رکھ کر، پرچم کا احترام کر کے، برادری کی مدد کر کے، ایماندار رہ کر اور ناانصافی کے خلاف کھڑے ہو کر — یونٹ کا مکالمہ کہتا ہے حب الوطنی عمل ہے، صرف الفاظ یا یوم آزادی کی پوسٹیں نہیں۔

C. Inferred Meanings — 'The Forgotten Garden' (pp.21–22)ج۔ اندازے سے معانی — 'The Forgotten Garden'
QUESTIONS + ANSWERS
1. What does the word 'neglected' suggest about the state of the garden before Hania found it?

Answer: It had been left uncared-for for a long time — overgrown hedges, a crumbling wall, vines and fallen leaves; villagers avoided it. یہ طویل عرصے سے بے توجہی کا شکار تھا — بڑھی ہوئی باڑیں، ٹوٹی دیوار، بیلیں اور گرے پتے؛ گاؤں والے اس سے بچتے تھے۔

2. In 'But Hania was not so easily deterred,' what does 'deterred' mean? What clues help?

Answer: 'Deterred' means discouraged or put off from doing something. Clue: 'not so easily' + Hania pushed the gate open and stepped inside anyway, despite the strange tales. ”deterred“ کا مطلب ہمت ٹوٹنا یا کسی کام سے روکا جانا ہے۔ اشارہ: ”not so easily“ + ہانیہ نے عجیب کہانیوں کے باوجود دروازہ کھولا اور اندر چلی گئی۔

3. The gate's hinges are described as 'groaning in protest.' What does this personification suggest?

Answer: The gate was old, rusted and stiff — it had not been opened for a long time, so it moved with difficulty and a groaning sound, as if protesting. دروازہ پرانا، زنگ آلود اور سخت تھا — طویل عرصے سے نہیں کھولا گیا تھا، اس لیے مشکل سے کراہتی آواز کے ساتھ کھلا، گویا احتجاج کر رہا ہو۔

4. The petals are described as 'luminescent.' What does this word mean from the description?

Answer: Glowing / giving off light — later the garden itself 'seemed to glow' in the gentle light, and Hania stood mesmerized. چمکنے والا / روشنی دینے والا — بعد میں باغ خود بھی ”چمکتا ہوا“ محسوس ہوا اور ہانیہ مسحور کھڑی رہی۔

5. What does it mean that Hania was 'mesmerized' by the gentle light?

Answer: She was completely fascinated and spellbound — she stood still, unable to look away, realizing the place was not haunted but 'waiting to be noticed again'.
