No official Class 10 Pakistan Studies textbook was on disk during preparation, so no official-book page numbers are claimed. The questions at the end are SLO / board-pattern practice questions from the library chapter — they are not presented as the book's official exercise. Answers follow the chapter explanations above; cross-check wording with your printed textbook before exams.
Islam gave women rights at a time when they had almost none: the right to life, education, property, inheritance, choosing a husband, and dignity. The Holy Quran says men and women are equal in honour and reward for good deeds, and the Prophet (PBUH) said: “Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim (man and woman).”
Before Islam, baby girls were buried alive in Arabia; Islam forbade this and raised the mother to a place where “Paradise lies under the feet of mothers.”
Empowerment in the Islamic sense does not mean copying others — it means giving women their God-given rights: education, work, property, safety and a voice in society, within Islamic values.
Women stood shoulder to shoulder with men in the Pakistan Movement. Fatima Jinnah (Madar-e-Millat), the Quaid's sister, organised women, addressed public meetings and became the symbol of Muslim women's political awakening.
Begum Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan founded the All Pakistan Women's Association (APWA, 1949) for women's education, health and welfare, and later became Governor of Sindh.
Thousands of ordinary women joined processions, raised funds, nursed refugees in 1947, and voted in the 1945–46 elections — proving that the demand for Pakistan was a people's movement, not a men's movement.
Education is the first step of empowerment: an educated woman earns, raises healthier children, and takes part in decisions. Girls' enrolment has risen greatly, but dropout rates, distance to schools, and early marriages still hold many girls back, especially in rural areas.
Health: maternal health is a key issue — trained birth attendants, nutrition, and access to hospitals reduce deaths of mothers and babies. Lady Health Workers (since 1994) bring basic health care to village homes.
Government steps: free primary education, girls' stipends, women-only colleges and universities (e.g. Fatima Jinnah Women University, Lahore College for Women University), and health programmes for mothers and children.
Women work in every field: farming (more than half of farm labour in many areas), teaching, nursing, banking, IT, media, law, and business. Home-based workers (embroidery, stitching, food) earn quietly for millions of families.
Barriers: lower wages than men for the same work, lack of transport and childcare, harassment at work, and difficulty getting loans. Microfinance (small loans for women) and skills training help women start small businesses.
Success stories: women pilots, judges, bankers, athletes (cricket, hockey, squash), and entrepreneurs show that talent has no gender — opportunity is what matters.
The constitution gives women equal rights and reserved seats in the National Assembly, Senate and provincial assemblies, plus seats in local government. Women have served as Prime Minister (Benazir Bhutto, first woman PM of a Muslim country), Speaker, ministers, judges and governors.
Protective laws (learn the names): Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act (2010); Prevention of Anti-Women Practices Act (2011, bans forced marriage, wani, denial of inheritance); Acid Control and Acid Crime Prevention Act (2011); Punjab Protection of Women Against Violence Act (2016).
Still needed: enforcement in villages, fast courts, and awareness so women know and claim their rights.
Problems: illiteracy, early marriage, honour killings (کاروکاری), domestic violence, denial of inheritance, wage gaps, and under-representation in decisions.
Way forward: (1) girls' education to at least matric; (2) strict enforcement of protective laws; (3) safe transport and workplaces; (4) inheritance and property rights in practice; (5) women in police, courts and councils; (6) media and mosques teaching respect for women.
Remember: a country cannot develop with half its population held back. As Quaid-e-Azam said, “No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you.”
Note: These are SLO / board-pattern practice questions for revision. They are not the book's official exercise. Answers follow the chapter explanations above; where an answer is derived from the chapter summary it is labelled as a chapter-based answer in the summary section.

Islam raised women from a position of no rights: it forbade burying baby girls alive, gave women rights to education, property, inheritance and choice in marriage, and declared men and women equal in honour and reward. The mother was given the highest respect — Paradise under her feet. Empowerment in Islam means these God-given rights in practice, not imitation of others.
Women joined the Movement from the start: they attended League sessions, marched in processions, raised funds, and voted in 1945–46. Fatima Jinnah organised and inspired them; Begum Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan and others led women's organisations; in 1947 women nursed refugees and ran relief camps. Their participation proved Pakistan was demanded by the whole nation.
Problems: illiteracy, early marriage, honour killings, domestic violence, denial of inheritance, wage gaps, low representation. Empowerment needs: girls' education to matric and beyond, enforcement of protective laws (2010, 2011, 2016 Acts), safe transport and workplaces, property and inheritance rights in practice, microfinance and skills, and women in police, courts and councils — so that, in Jinnah's words, women stand side by side in national life.
