Start with the four facts every Pakistani child knows by heart: the country came into being on 14 August 1947, its capital is Islamabad, its national language is Urdu, and its flag is green and white with a crescent and a star. Say them in order until they come without thinking.
The flag is worth looking at closely: green for the majority, white for minorities, and the crescent and star for progress and light. When you see it, remember it stands for all Pakistanis together, not for one group alone.
Learn the provinces as a short chant: Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan — and then add Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, which are also part of Pakistan's story. Four provinces plus two regions is the full picture the chapter gives.
Fix three places in your mind with a picture each: Lahore, the heart of Punjab; Karachi, the biggest city; and K2 in the Karakoram, the second highest peak in the world. One picture per place, and the map of Pakistan will start to feel like a place you know.
Picture note — Example: My country is Pakistan. • Its capital is Islamabad. • I live in Punjab. • I love its kind people.
My country is Pakistan. • Its capital is Islamabad. • I live in Punjab. • I love its kind people.
Pakistani kindness has a name in this chapter: hospitality — guests are welcomed, fed and looked after. That is why food matters here too: roti, daal, biryani and lassi are not just dishes, they are what a guest is offered with love.
Festivals mark the year: Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha bring new clothes, family visits and shared sweets, and Pakistan Day on 23 March remembers the Lahore Resolution of 1940. Learn the dates with the feelings — sweets with Eid, pride with 23 March — and they will stay.
Loving Pakistan is not a slogan in this chapter — it is four daily jobs: study hard, keep the country clean, respect its laws, and be honest. A child who does those four things is already loving Pakistan, even without saying the words.
That is why children are called Pakistan's future here: today's hardworking students are tomorrow's doctors, teachers and leaders. Your homework today is, in a small way, the country's tomorrow being built.
Revise by telling Pakistan in four sentences, like the chapter's example: its name, its capital, one province, and one thing you love about it. Then add the four provinces from memory and the two Eids plus Pakistan Day with their dates.
If a visitor asked you about Pakistan, what three things would you choose? Pick them tonight — a date, a place and a kindness — and you will have your own short speech ready for the exercise's think question.
