No official Class 3 General Knowledge textbook was available on disk while building it, so no book page numbers are claimed here, and the exercise below is the library master's SLO-based practice — it is NOT presented as the official book exercise and was not re-checked against the official book.
In this chapter you will learn about 1. 🌍 What is a Resource?, 2. 🌱 Natural and Human-Made Resources, 3. 🔄 Renewable and Non-Renewable, 4. 🏭 Uses of Resources in Daily Life — read each topic slowly in English, then in Urdu, and study the diagram before moving on.
A resource is anything we use to live better: water, food, wood, sunlight and coal. We get resources from nature, from farms and from factories. Without resources we cannot eat, build houses or travel.
First, look around your room and name three things you use every day — your book, your glass of water, your clothes. Second, ask where each one came from: the book from trees, the water from a river or tap, the clothes from cotton plants. Third, remember the test: if it helps you live, eat, learn or travel, it is a resource.
Natural resources come from nature: air, water, soil, forests and minerals. Human-made resources are made by people: roads, machines, books and clothes. We must use natural resources wisely because many of them are limited.
Sort things into two boxes in your mind. In the nature box put air, water, soil and forests — nobody made them. In the people box put roads, machines, books and clothes — people made them with their hands and machines. Then ask one question: can nature make more of it quickly? If not, use it with care.
Sunlight is renewable, coal is not. If a village uses solar panels, it saves coal for the future.
Renewable resources come back again: sunlight, wind and water. Non-renewable resources finish one day and do not come back quickly: coal, oil and gas. That is why we should use more sunlight and wind for energy.
Take sunlight and coal and ask of each: will it come back tomorrow? Sunlight returns every morning, wind blows again, and rain fills rivers — so they are renewable. Coal, oil and gas took ages to form and finish once used — so they are non-renewable. That is why a wise village picks the sun first.
We drink water, eat food from farms, wear cotton clothes and travel in buses that use fuel. Every thing around you came from a resource. When we waste food or water, we waste resources.
Follow your own day from morning to night. You drink water, eat farm food, wear cotton clothes and ride a bus that burns fuel. Every single thing traces back to a resource, so wasting food at lunch or water at the tap is really wasting the resource behind it.
These questions are SLO-based practice questions for this chapter. They are NOT copied from the official textbook exercise, because the official Class 3 book exercise was not available to verify word-for-word. Learn the chapter first, then try every question without looking at the answer. All answers below are the library master's model answers (derived from the chapter text), not copied from an official answer key.
MCQ 1: Which is a natural resource?
Answer: Water — it comes from nature.
MCQ 2: Which is renewable?
Answer: Sunlight — it comes back every day.
MCQ 3: A book is which kind of resource?
Answer: Human-made — people make books.
MCQ 4: Which resource do we drink?
Answer: Water.
MCQ 5: Why must we save water?
Answer: Water is a limited natural resource.
Answer: A resource is a useful thing, e.g. water.
Answer: Air and soil (or water, forests).
Answer: Roads and machines.
Answer: Renewable: wind. Non-renewable: coal.
Answer: Renewable come back (sun, wind); non-renewable finish (coal, oil).
Answer: Sunlight is free and renewable, and it does not finish like coal or oil.
Answer: Both — wasted water is wasted resource, and cleaning water also uses energy.
Resources are gifts we must use wisely: natural or human-made, renewable or non-renewable.
Revision guidance: Say the two pairs aloud — natural vs human-made, renewable vs non-renewable — then sort five things in your room into the four boxes before you try the exercise.
