📌 ماخذ: یہ باب سرکاری پی سی ٹی بی انگریزی جماعت 4 کی کتاب سے بنایا گیا ہے۔ سبق کا خلاصہ اور وضاحت گائیڈ کے اپنے الفاظ میں ہے، کتاب کا متن نقل نہیں کیا گیا۔ مشق کے سوالات کتاب کی مشق کے انداز پر ہیں اور جوابات گائیڈ کے حل شدہ نمونہ جوابات ہیں۔
This unit, Valuing Others, is a story about Rehan, Sa'ad and Faraz. Sa'ad is a differently-abled boy who uses a wheelchair, and Faraz, the cricket captain, is rude to him. The story teaches us that we must value every person, never make fun of anyone, and always say sorry when we hurt someone.
One evening, Rehan found his best friend Sa'ad sitting alone on a bench in a park. Sa'ad seemed upset. Rehan asked him the reason, and Sa'ad said, I am feeling guilty about my disability. I have been a burden on others. Rehan comforted him: Allah has made every person special, and you are a genius in your own way.
Faraz, the captain of the cricket team, had been rude to Sa'ad and had made fun of him. Later, Faraz felt ashamed of his rude behaviour. He apologised to Sa'ad for his bad behaviour, and Sa'ad forgave him at once. They became good friends. The lesson is clear: value others, and never judge a person by his disability.
ایک شام ریحان نے اپنے بہترین دوست سعد کو پارک میں بینچ پر اکیلا بیٹھا پایا۔ سعد پریشان لگ رہا تھا۔ ریحان نے وجہ پوچھی، اور سعد نے کہا، I am feeling guilty about my disability. I have been a burden on others.
Rude means showing lack of respect. Depressed means unhappy. Apologise means to say sorry. Gloomy means sad, and guilty means feeling ashamed for doing something wrong.
Compound words are made by joining two words: butter + fly = butterfly, rain + bow = rainbow, sun + flower = sunflower. Think of four compound words, break them into the words they are made of, and write them in your notebook.
The word the is pronounced in two ways. Before a vowel sound it is pronounced thee (the apples, the umbrella, the owner), and before a consonant sound it is pronounced thuh (the house, the match, the lie, the house). Read the given text and notice the difference.
In speaking, practise dialogues of asking for things politely: May I borrow your helmet? I need it for tomorrow's match. Of course, please take it. I will return it soon. Could you please help me complete my new painting? You are right. I should try it at least once. Then ask a friend to lend you different things (a spare pencil, a sharpener) and use polite words.
لفظ the دو طرح بولا جاتا ہے۔ حروف علت کی آواز سے پہلے اسے thee بولتے ہیں (the apples, the umbrella, the owner)، اور حروف صحیح کی آواز سے پہلے thuh بولتے ہیں (the house, the match, the lie, the house)۔ دیا گیا متن پڑھو اور فرق دیکھو۔
بولنے میں مہذب انداز سے چیزیں مانگنے کے مکالموں کی مشق کرو: May I borrow your helmet? I need it for tomorrow's match. Of course, please take it. I will return it soon. Could you please help me complete my new painting? You are right. I should try it at least once. پھر دوست سے مختلف چیزیں (اضافی پنسل، شارپنر) مانگو اور مہذب الفاظ استعمال کرو۔
Common nouns name general people, places and things: boy, city, book. Proper nouns name a special person, place or thing and begin with a capital letter: Salman, Karachi, Sunday. Read the given passage and notice the common and proper nouns.
Be, do and have are used as main verbs and as helping verbs: I am a student. I am reading a story. You are late. You are going to school. He has two siblings. He has written a story. Inflectional endings are letters added at the end of a word that change its form, like -s, -es and -ing: Faraz goes to the library every day. Faraz goes, plays, reads. Also punctuate sentences with full stops, question marks and exclamation marks.
عام اسم عام لوگوں، جگہوں اور چیزوں کے نام ہیں: boy, city, book۔ خاص اسم کسی خاص شخص، جگہ یا چیز کا نام ہے اور بڑے حرف سے شروع ہوتا ہے: Salman, Karachi, Sunday۔ دیا گیا پیراگراف پڑھو اور عام و خاص اسم دیکھو۔
Be, do اور have مرکزی فعل اور مددگار فعل دونوں کے طور پر استعمال ہوتے ہیں: I am a student. I am reading a story. You are late. You are going to school. He has two siblings. He has written a story. لاحقے لفظ کے آخر میں لگنے والے حروف ہیں جو اس کی شکل بدل دیتے ہیں، جیسے -s, -es اور -ing: Faraz goes to the library every day. Faraz goes, plays, reads. جملوں میں ختمہ، سوالیہ اور تعجبیہ نشان بھی درست لگاؤ۔
A narrative paragraph tells about an event in order: what happened, who the characters were, any message, and when and where it took place. Use the given mind map to write a narrative paragraph on a trip that was unexpected and surprising.
Then write a narrative paragraph of your own about an event of your life which you could never forget. Begin with when and where it happened, tell the events in order, and end with what you learned from it.

Last year, my family and I went on a trip that was unexpected and surprising. We planned to visit my uncle in Lahore, but on the way our car stopped near a beautiful lake. We had never seen such a clear blue lake before. We ate lunch under the trees, took photographs and played near the water. I will never forget that day, because it taught me that the best moments in life are often the ones we do not plan.
We should treat differently-abled people with respect, kindness and love. They are not less than us; they have the same feelings, dreams and talents. We should help them when they need help, include them in games and studies, and never make fun of them. A kind word and a helping hand can make them happy, and it makes us better human beings too.
Valuing Others teaches respect: Sa'ad is hurt by rude behaviour, Faraz apologises, and they become friends. The unit teaches words like rude and apologise, compound words, the two sounds of 'the', common and proper nouns, be/do/have verbs, inflectional endings and narrative paragraphs.
Revision tip: Write two compound words and their parts, then write two sentences each using be, do and have as helping verbs.
