Citizenship means being a member of a country — and being a good one. This chapter teaches you what a citizen does, which words you must know, and how small daily actions make a whole country better.

1. Introduction to Citizenship

ENGLISH

A citizen is a member of a country. That one line is the whole starting point: if you live in Pakistan and belong to it, you are its citizen, just like every other Pakistani child.

A good citizen follows laws, respects others, keeps the surroundings clean, helps neighbours and takes part in the good of the country. Children show this at home and at school by being honest, kind and disciplined — doing the right thing even when nobody is watching.

🏷 Tags: citizen, law, duty
ENGLISH

Three words carry this whole chapter, so learn them word by word. Citizen — a member of a country. Law — a rule that everyone must follow. Duty — a good action a citizen should do.

Notice how the three fit together: the citizen is the person, the law is the rule, and the duty is the good work. If you can say all three meanings without looking, you already know half the chapter.

🏷 Tags: daily life, queue, helping others
ENGLISH

Look at an ordinary day and you will see citizenship everywhere. Standing in a line instead of pushing ahead, not littering the street, and helping an old person cross the road are all signs of a good citizen.

Now find one more example of your own. Look around your home, street or classroom today, pick one good-citizen action you saw, and tell it to a friend in your own words — that is how this lesson stays in your memory.

4. Why It Matters
🏷 Tags: peace, clean country, strong country
ENGLISH

Why should one child’s small actions matter to a whole country? Because a country is simply its people added together. When millions of citizens each keep their street clean and follow the rules, the result is a peaceful, clean and strong country for everyone.

The opposite is just as true: if everyone littered and broke rules, no law alone could fix it. Good citizens are the real strength of a country, and that strength starts with children like you.
