Citizenship means being a member of a country — and being a good one. This chapter teaches you what a citizen does, which words you must know, and how small daily actions make a whole country better.
A citizen is a member of a country. That one line is the whole starting point: if you live in Pakistan and belong to it, you are its citizen, just like every other Pakistani child.
A good citizen follows laws, respects others, keeps the surroundings clean, helps neighbours and takes part in the good of the country. Children show this at home and at school by being honest, kind and disciplined — doing the right thing even when nobody is watching.
Three words carry this whole chapter, so learn them word by word. Citizen — a member of a country. Law — a rule that everyone must follow. Duty — a good action a citizen should do.
Notice how the three fit together: the citizen is the person, the law is the rule, and the duty is the good work. If you can say all three meanings without looking, you already know half the chapter.
Look at an ordinary day and you will see citizenship everywhere. Standing in a line instead of pushing ahead, not littering the street, and helping an old person cross the road are all signs of a good citizen.
Now find one more example of your own. Look around your home, street or classroom today, pick one good-citizen action you saw, and tell it to a friend in your own words — that is how this lesson stays in your memory.
Why should one child’s small actions matter to a whole country? Because a country is simply its people added together. When millions of citizens each keep their street clean and follow the rules, the result is a peaceful, clean and strong country for everyone.
The opposite is just as true: if everyone littered and broke rules, no law alone could fix it. Good citizens are the real strength of a country, and that strength starts with children like you.
Remember: Citizen — a member of a country; Law — a rule that everyone must follow; Duty — a good action a citizen should do. Say the three meanings aloud twice, then cover this page.
Now close the book and tell the main idea of this chapter in three sentences. If you can mention a citizen, a law and one daily example, your revision is complete.
These questions are SLO-based practice questions from the library master. They are NOT the official textbook exercise. Answer: A citizen is a member of a country. A good citizen follows laws, respects others, keeps the surroundings clean, helps neighbours and takes part in the good of the country. Children are good citizens when they are honest, kind and disciplined at home and school. Standing in a line, not littering the street and helping an old person cross the road are signs of a good citizen. سمجھنے کے لیے: start with the meaning, then the qualities, then the examples — in that order.
Answer: Good citizens make a peaceful, clean and strong country for everyone. سمجھنے کے لیے: one reason is peace, one is cleanliness, and one is strength — a country becomes all three only when its citizens act well.
Answer: Start with the example: standing in a line, not littering the street and helping an old person cross the road are signs of a good citizen. Then explain the key words: Citizen means a member of a country; Law means a rule that everyone must follow. سمجھنے کے لیے: little children understand examples first and meanings second — so always begin with the example.
This chapter taught you that a citizen is a member of a country, a law is a rule everyone must follow, and a duty is a good action a citizen should do. You saw citizenship in daily life — standing in a line, not littering, helping an old person cross the road — and learned that good citizens together make a peaceful, clean and strong country.
Revision guidance: Cover the Remember and Revise section and say Citizen, Law and Duty meanings aloud from memory. Then redo the 5 MCQs without looking at the answers, and tell one daily-life example to a friend in your own words.
