Unit 14 teaches living together in peace: respecting others, sharing, and enjoying a poem about two little kittens. Peace and coexistence make a happy class, family and country.
This unit teaches us through a story or a text, and we practise reading, speaking and writing about it.
Read the text slowly, look at the pictures, and guess the meaning of new words before asking the teacher.
The two kittens are a mirror, not just a poem: they quarrel on a stormy night the way friends quarrel over a toy, and the unit asks you to see your own quarrels in theirs. Read the poem twice — once for the story, once for yourself — and the second reading is the lesson.
Coexistence is the unit's big word for a small daily practice: different languages in one class are different flowers in one garden, and the garden is more beautiful for the difference, not less. A class that only speaks one way is a garden with one flower.
Learn the new words of this unit with their meanings and use each word in your own sentence.
Keep a word bank in your notebook: word, meaning, and one sentence. Revise it every week.
peace — living without fighting. Example: Peace makes a happy class.
respect — treating others as important. Example: Respect means listening to others.
quarrel — an angry argument. Example: The kittens began to quarrel.
together — with each other, not alone. Example: Together we live in peace.
Grammar: rhythm, stress and intonation in reciting a poem.
We learn to use joining words: 'and', 'but', 'because' to join ideas.
Joining words are the hinges of sentences: and adds, but turns, because explains. 'Ali is small but he is strong' works because but makes the second half surprise the first; change but to and and the surprise dies. Test every joining word by swapping it and hearing what breaks.
A poem's rhythm is its beat and music, and it is felt in the body before it is understood in the mind: clap the two kitten lines and feel where the claps fall, stress the important words, let your voice rise and fall with the storm and the quarrel. A poem read flat is a song sung without music.
Every unit ends with a message for life. Think about how you can follow that message at home and at school.
Practise writing a short paragraph on the unit's theme: one topic sentence, three supporting sentences, and one ending sentence.
A paragraph on peace in the classroom is a room described by its habits: we listen to the teacher, share books, speak kindly, solve quarrels with words not fights — and everyone feels happy and safe. Four habits, one feeling, and the paragraph ends where it should: with safety, because safety is peace made visible.
The four poem lines about living together follow the same shape in verse: hand in hand, peaceful land, shared joys, shared toys, together all the girls and boys. Write your own four lines by keeping the shape and changing the pictures — your class, your games, your friends.
ساتھ رہنے پر چار مصرعے نظم میں اسی شکل پر چلتے ہیں: hand in hand، peaceful land، shared joys، shared toys، together all the girls and boys۔ اپنی چار سطریں شکل رکھ کر اور تصویریں بدل کر لکھو — تمہاری جماعت، تمہارے کھیل، تمہارے دوست۔
Revise the whole book in this last chapter: say one joining-word sentence, clap one poem rhythm, and name the four habits of a peaceful class. If you can do all three, the year's English is not a pile of chapters but a set of habits.
The final question is for life after the test: two friends quarrel like the two kittens — what do you do? Say sorry, listen to each other, share what you fought about. That is the book's last answer, and it is also its first lesson.
