The Holy Quran is Allah's last book, revealed to Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) over 23 years. Hadith are the Prophet's sayings and actions, which explain the Quran and show us how to live.
The Holy Quran is Allah's last book, and Hadith explains it in daily life. Think of it this way: the Quran gives the command, and Hadith shows how the Prophet (PBUH) lived that command, so a student can follow both together, step by step.
The Quran has 114 Surahs and 30 Paras. It was revealed through Angel Jibril (AS), first in the Cave of Hira.
The first word revealed was 'Iqra' — Read! This shows how much Islam values knowledge.
Why do the numbers matter? 114 Surahs and 30 Paras are like the chapters and parts of one book, so you can find any lesson quickly. The first word, 'Iqra' (Read), tells us that learning comes before everything else: a person who reads and understands can tell right from wrong.
We touch the Quran with wudu, keep it in a clean high place, and recite it slowly with love.
We act on what we read: the Quran is not only for recitation but for guidance in daily life.
Treat the Quran in three steps. First, make wudu, because cleanliness shows respect. Second, keep it in a clean, high place, never on the floor. Third, recite slowly, not in a hurry, so the words reach your heart — and then try to live by one thing you read that day.
Hadith are the words, actions and approvals of the Prophet (PBUH). They explain how to pray, fast, eat and treat people.
Example: 'Cleanliness is half of faith.' This Hadith teaches us to keep ourselves and our surroundings clean.
Hadith covers ordinary life, not only worship: how to pray, how to fast, how to eat, and how to treat people. The example 'Cleanliness is half of faith' is easy to practise at once — clean hands, clean clothes, a clean desk and a clean street are all part of the same lesson.
Many children memorise parts of the Quran; this is called Hifz, and a Hafiz is honoured.
Even if we memorise little, we should understand what we recite and practice one teaching every day.
Hifz does not mean memorising everything at once. Take a small part, repeat it a few times, learn what it means, and then practise one teaching from it during the day. A Hafiz is honoured because he carries Allah's words in his heart — and understanding them matters just as much as remembering them.
Use this list for quick revision: cover the list, say each point from memory, and then check. If one point is weak — for example the number of Paras — go back to that section and read it again before the test.

This Baab is about the two guides of a Muslim's life: the Holy Quran, Allah's last book, revealed to Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) over 23 years through Angel Jibril (AS), first in the Cave of Hira with the word 'Iqra'; and Hadith, the Prophet's sayings, actions and approvals, which explain the Quran and show how to pray, fast, eat and treat people. It also teaches the manners of the Quran — wudu, a clean high place, slow and loving recitation, acting on what we read — and the habit of learning and memorising, even a little at a time, with understanding. The exercise (4 MCQs, 4 short, 2 long, 2 think-and-answer) is solved at the end.
Revision guidance: Revision: first fix the numbers — 114 Surahs, 30 Paras, 23 years, first word Iqra. Then the manners in order: wudu, clean high place, slow recitation, act on it. Then one Hadith to quote: 'Cleanliness is half of faith.'
