This revised page was built from the existing Class 6 Mathematics library master chapter (chapter-3-complete-guide-book.html) in the same series. No official Class 6 Mathematics book copy was on disk for a fresh page-by-page check, so no book page numbers are claimed and the exercise below is the master chapter's own SLO-based practice set — NOT the official textbook exercise (the master itself labels it SLO-based, not copied from the book). Section explanations and answers follow the master chapter; nothing has been invented to fill gaps.

1. Factorsعاد
🏷 Tags: factors
ENGLISH

A factor is a number that divides another number exactly, leaving no remainder. Factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12.

Every number has 1 and itself as factors. Factor pairs multiply to the number: for 12, the pairs are (1, 12), (2, 6), (3, 4).

2. Prime and Composite Numbers
🏷 Tags: prime, composite, numbers
ENGLISH

A prime number has exactly two factors: 1 and itself. Examples: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13. Note: 2 is the only even prime; 1 is neither prime nor composite.

A composite number has more than two factors, e.g. 4 (1, 2, 4), 6, 8, 9, 10. Prime factorisation writes a number as a product of primes: 12 = 2 × 2 × 3.

Figure samjho: Prime: exactly 2 factors. Composite: more than 2. 1 is neither.
3. Multiples
🏷 Tags: multiples
ENGLISH

Multiples of a number are found by multiplying it by 1, 2, 3, ... Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, ... — they never end.

Every number is a multiple of itself and of 1. Multiples are used for timetables, patterns and common multiples.

4. HCFعاد اعظم
🏷 Tags: hcf
ENGLISH

HCF (Highest Common Factor) is the largest number that divides two or more numbers exactly. Method: list factors, or use prime factorisation and take common primes.

Example: factors of 12 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12; of 18 = 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18. Common: 1, 2, 3, 6. HCF = 6.

5. LCMذواضعاف اقل
🏷 Tags: lcm
ENGLISH

LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) is the smallest number that is a multiple of two or more numbers. Example: multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16...; of 6: 6, 12, 18... LCM = 12.

LCM is used when things repeat together — e.g. two buses leaving together will next leave together after the LCM of their intervals.

LCMCommon multiples→Smallest→Repeat together→Buses example

SUMMARY

This chapter is about breaking numbers apart and putting their patterns together: factors, prime and composite numbers, multiples, and then the two great shared values — HCF and LCM. The factor work here is also the quiet preparation for fractions and algebra later on.

  • 1. Factors: A factor divides a number exactly with no remainder — test small divisors in order and stop at the square root.
  • 2. Prime and Composite Numbers: A prime number has exactly two factors; a composite has more; 1 is neither, and 2 is the only even prime.
  • 3. Multiples: Multiples go on forever in steps of the number — the first few common multiples are where two lists first meet.
  • 4. HCF: HCF is the greatest factor shared by the numbers — factor trees or prime factors both lead to it.
  • 5. LCM: LCM is the smallest multiple shared by the numbers — use it whenever things repeat together, like bells or buses.

Revision guidance: Practise prime factorisation until the tree feels automatic, then solve every HCF/LCM question by the prime-factor method first and check with a short list.
