The book opens with a Hamd — a poem in praise of Allah. It thanks Allah for His blessings and wonders at His creation: the sky, the earth, the seasons and human life itself.
For the student: How to read it: read the lesson once from start to end without stopping, then read it again slowly. The second reading is where the lesson really sits in your mind.
The poem moves from nature to gratitude: every blessing points to the Creator, and the proper response is thanks, humility and remembrance. Its tone is devotional, calm and full of wonder.
For the student: Say it in your own words: after reading, close the book and tell the central idea in two or three sentences of your own. If you can say it simply, you have understood it.
Poetic features: praise, imagery of nature, and a devotional address to Allah. Key words relate to blessings, creation and thanks. In exams, students are asked the poem's theme, the poet's feelings, and the meaning of difficult words.
For the student: Words first: write the difficult words in your notebook with their meanings, and use each one in a sentence of your own. Words you use yourself are words you remember.
Moral: gratitude for blessings and humility before the Creator. Exam focus: theme of Hamd, two examples of nature imagery, and meanings of key words.
For the student: For the exam: learn the moral in one line, then practise the exercise questions without looking at the answers. Check yourself honestly — the questions you miss tell you what to revise again.
