This lesson teaches Pakistan's official national symbols: the flag, the crescent and star, the national anthem, and other emblems — and the meaning behind each one.

Central idea: symbols are not decoration — they carry meaning. The flag's green stands for the Muslim majority and Islam, its white stripe for minorities, the crescent for progress, the star for light and knowledge.
For the student: Say it in your own words: after reading, close the book and tell the central idea in two or three sentences of your own. If you can say it simply, you have understood it.

For the student: Words first: write the difficult words in your notebook with their meanings, and use each one in a sentence of your own. Words you use yourself are words you remember.
