📌 Note on source: This chapter is built from the existing PunjabTest library chapter for Class 9 Biology. No official Class 9 Biology textbook was available on disk for this build, so no official book page numbers are claimed here. Exercise questions and answers are those of the library chapter, explained in detail in English and Urdu.

اس chapter میں topics (Topics in this chapter)

  1. 1. 🧱 Levels of Organisation —
  2. 2. 🌿 Organs and Organ Systems in Plants —
  3. 3. 🫀 Organs and Organ Systems in Humans —
1. 🧱 Levels of Organisation
🏷 Tags: tissue, organ, organ system
ENGLISH

Living things are organised in levels: cell → tissue → organ → organ system → organism. A tissue is a group of similar cells working together for one job; an organ is a group of tissues working together; an organ system is a group of organs working together.

Example: muscle cells → muscle tissue → heart (organ) → circulatory system → human body. Each level is more complex than the one below it.

2. 🌿 Organs and Organ Systems in Plants
🏷 Tags: roots, stem, leaves, flowers, root system, shoot system
ENGLISH

Plant organs: roots (absorb water and salts, anchor the plant), stem (support, transport), leaves (photosynthesis, gas exchange) and flowers (reproduction). Plant tissues include meristematic tissue (growth) and permanent tissues like xylem (water transport) and phloem (food transport).

Plants have two main systems: the root system (underground) and the shoot system (stem, leaves, flowers above ground). They work together: roots take in water, leaves make food, and vessels move both around.

3. 🫀 Organs and Organ Systems in Humans
🏷 Tags: digestive, circulatory, respiratory, nervous, excretory, skeletal/muscular
ENGLISH

Human organ systems include: digestive (mouth, stomach, intestines — break down food), circulatory (heart, blood vessels — transport), respiratory (nose, trachea, lungs — gas exchange), nervous (brain, spinal cord, nerves — control), excretory (kidneys — remove waste), skeletal/muscular (support and movement) and reproductive.

Each system does one big job, but all systems depend on each other — e.g. muscles need oxygen from the respiratory system and food from the digestive system, delivered by blood.

Section D: Inquisitive Questions
1. How does the structure of epithelial tissue relate to its function in different parts of the body?

Answer: Structure fits job: in the stomach it is glandular (secretes juices); in the skin it is layered and tough (protection); in the intestine it is thin with villi (absorption); in lung alveoli it is one cell thick (fast gas exchange). Same tissue type, different form for different work.

2. Evaluate the importance of organ systems working in harmony and predict the consequences of a failure in one system on the others.

Answer: Systems depend on each other, so one failure spreads: if the circulatory system fails, oxygen and nutrients stop reaching cells, so digestion, excretion, nerves and muscles all fail. Harmony is survival — the body works only as a team.
