This revised page was built from the existing Class 9 Mathematics library chapter (chapter-3-complete-guide-book.html) in the same series. No official Class 9 Mathematics book copy was on disk for a fresh page-by-page check (the books are with the user), so no book page numbers are claimed and the exercise below is carried over from the master chapter as given — selected solved questions plus SLO-based practice MCQs — not newly verified against the book and not presented as the official exercise. Answers follow the master chapter. All section figures on this page are self-made diagrams (no book pictures).
Union A ∪ B = elements in A or B (or both). Intersection A ∩ B = elements in both. Difference A − B = elements in A but not in B. Complement A′ = elements of U not in A.
For three sets the same laws hold, and Venn diagrams with three circles verify them: e.g. the distributive law A ∪ (B ∩ C) = (A ∪ B) ∩ (A ∪ C), and De Morgan's laws (A ∪ B)′ = A′ ∩ B′. The book asks students to verify these analytically and by Venn diagrams.
یونین A ∪ B = وہ عناصر جو A یا B میں ہوں (یا دونوں میں)۔ تقاطع A ∩ B = وہ عناصر جو دونوں میں ہوں۔ فرق A − B = وہ عناصر جو A میں ہوں مگر B میں نہ ہوں۔ متمم A′ = U کے وہ عناصر جو A میں نہ ہوں۔
A ∪ (B ∩ C) = (A ∪ B) ∩ (A ∪ C)، اور ڈی مورگن کے قوانین (A ∪ B)′ = A′ ∩ B′۔ کتاب ان کی تصدیق تجزیاتی طریقے اور وین خاکوں سے کرنے کو کہتی ہے۔
Set theory organises real life. A shop classifies products into sets (electronics, clothing, groceries) and catalogues them by overlapping properties — a phone can be in 'electronics' and in 'on sale' at once. Demographic classification works the same way: people belong to sets by city, age group or occupation, and Venn diagrams show the overlaps.
Solving such problems means translating words into sets: 'both', 'only', 'neither' become intersection, difference and complement. Always start from the overlap (the 'both' group) and work outwards.
