Start by saying the alphabet slowly, A to Z, and pointing at each letter as you say it. When you can say it without stopping, try it backwards from Z — that is how you know you really know the order, not just a song.
Now sort letters into two teams: capitals and small. Capitals are the tall, proud ones that stand at the start of a sentence and at the start of every name. Small letters do the everyday work inside words, so most of the letters you write in a line will be small.
Reading is not saying letter names — it is saying letter sounds. Put your hand in front of your mouth and feel the puff of air for 'b' in ball, then the open sound of 'a' in apple. When a word feels hard, cover it, say each sound slowly, then say the sounds faster and faster until the word comes out whole.
Play a quick game: your teacher or friend says a sound, and you find something in the room that starts with it. Sound first, letter second — that habit is what turns a slow reader into a smooth one.
Picture note — Example: Capitals: ALI • Normal: Ali • First letter capital only
Capitals: ALI • Normal: Ali • First letter capital only
Sit straight, hold your pencil softly, and let every letter sit on the line like a person standing on the ground. Tall letters stretch up, short letters stay in the middle, and letters like g, j, p and y drop one leg below the line — that is normal, not a mistake, as long as the rest of the letter stays on the line.
After every word, lift your pencil and leave a finger-width gap before the next word. Read your own line back: if two words look joined, they will read as one strange word, so rub out and give them space.
ABC order is a sorting game with one rule: compare the first letters first. Write the words in a column, look only at the first letter of each, and put them in A-to-Z order. Only when two words share a first letter do you look at the second letter — bat and bus both start with b, so a comes before u and bat wins.
Try it with your own things: sort apple, mango and banana, then sort pen, pencil and book. A dictionary is just a very long list sorted this way, which is why you can find any word in seconds instead of reading the whole book.
Revise this chapter like this: first say A to Z and point to five capitals and five small letters in your book. Then read a, b, c, d out loud as sounds, not names, and write your own name with only its first letter capital. Finish by sorting three words into ABC order — if you can do all four jobs, the chapter is yours.
One last check before the exercise: tall letters, short letters and below-the-line letters are three different families. Name two from each family without looking, and you will never mix them up again.

MCQ 3: 'a' as in:
Answer: Apple. Apple۔
MCQ 4: Which letter goes below the line?
Answer: g. g۔
MCQ 5: Arrange in ABC order: cat, apple, ball.
Answer: Apple, ball, cat. Apple، ball، cat۔
Answer: A a, B b, C c, D d, E e. A a، B b، C c، D d، E e۔
Answer: Ball (or bat, book). Ball۔
Answer: b and d (or h, l, t). b اور d۔
Answer: Because it is a name.
Moon, star, sun — by first letters m, s, s; for star/sun, second letter t comes before u, so star comes first.
⚠️ Correction note: the master answer text breaks off mid-sentence here (“second letters t …”); it is completed above — t comes before u in the alphabet, so star comes before sun. Nothing else in this question was changed.
Answer: Example: Ali is my friend. He lives in Lahore. Pakistan is my country. Ali is my friend. He lives in Lahore. Pakistan is my country.
Answer: It helps us find words fast instead of searching the whole book.
