📌 Source note: This chapter was built from PunjabTest.com's existing Class 3 General Knowledge library chapter (library master). No official Class 3 General Knowledge textbook was available on disk while building it, so no book page numbers are claimed here, and the exercise below is the library master's SLO-based practice — it is NOT presented as the official book exercise and was not re-checked against the official book.
In this chapter you will learn about 1. 🔌 What is Electricity?, 2. 🔋 Circuits: A Complete Path, 3. 📺 Electronics Around Us, 4. ⚠️ Electrical Safety — read each topic slowly in English, then in Urdu, and study the diagram before moving on.
Electricity is a form of energy that runs lights, fans, TVs and computers. It flows through wires from power stations to our homes. We must be careful: never touch wires or sockets with wet hands.
Electricity is energy you cannot see but use all day: lights, fans, TVs, computers. It travels from power stations through wires into your home, like water through pipes. Because you cannot see it, respect it — never touch wires or sockets with wet hands.
Electricity needs a complete path, called a circuit: battery → wire → bulb → wire → battery. If the path breaks (switch off), the bulb goes out. A switch opens or closes the circuit.
Trace the path with your finger: battery, then wire, then bulb, then wire, back to battery. That unbroken loop is a circuit, and the bulb shines only while the loop is whole. A switch is simply a door in the loop — close it and light comes, open it and the bulb goes dark.
Make a torch circuit: battery + wire + small bulb. Close the switch and the bulb lights. Open it and the bulb goes out — the path is broken.
Electronics are machines that use small electric parts: mobile phones, tablets, remote controls, washing machines. They help us talk, learn, wash and cook. Use them for learning and fun, but not all day.
Name the electronics in your home and their jobs: a mobile for talking and learning, a tablet for reading, a remote for the TV, a washing machine for clothes. They all run on small electric parts working together. Enjoy them for learning and fun, but do not live inside them all day.
Never put fingers or metal in sockets. Never touch electric things with wet hands. If a wire is broken, tell an adult at once. In a storm, stay away from electric poles.
Learn four safety rules by heart and never break them: no fingers or metal in sockets, dry hands only near electric things, a broken wire means tell an adult at once, and in a storm stay far from electric poles. Safety rules are not for exams — they are for staying alive.
These questions are SLO-based practice questions for this chapter. They are NOT copied from the official textbook exercise, because the official Class 3 book exercise was not available to verify word-for-word. Learn the chapter first, then try every question without looking at the answer. All answers below are the library master's model answers (derived from the chapter text), not copied from an official answer key.
MCQ 1: A bulb lights only when the circuit is:
Answer: Complete.
MCQ 2: In a circuit, the battery:
Answer: Gives power.
MCQ 3: Which is an electronic device?
Answer: Mobile phone.
MCQ 4: Never touch sockets with:
Answer: Wet hands.
MCQ 5: A switch is used to:
Answer: Open or close a circuit.
Answer: A complete path for electricity.
Answer: Battery, wires, bulb, switch.
Answer: TV and washing machine.
Answer: Never put fingers in sockets.
Answer: Parts: battery, wires, bulb, switch. Opening the switch breaks the path, so electricity cannot flow.
Answer: Water carries electricity and can give a dangerous shock.
Answer: Stop him gently, take the spoon away, and tell an adult.
Electricity flows in complete circuits and powers electronics — always use it safely.
Revision guidance: Trace the torch circuit with your finger — battery, wire, bulb, wire — and recite the four safety rules before touching any switch.
