ENGLISH

This unit is the fable The Fox and the Stork. A clever fox invites a stork to dinner but serves soup in a flat plate, which the stork cannot eat with his long beak. The next evening, the stork serves food in a jar with a narrow neck, which the fox cannot eat. The moral is: do not ridicule or degrade anyone, for Allah has made us all equal.

ENGLISH

Once there were a fox and a stork sharing a jungle. The fox was very clever and always teased others. One day, he invited the stork to dinner at his home. The fox prepared a tasty soup and served the meal in a flat plate. The stork was happy at first, but he could not sip it from the flat plate because his beak was so long. It was difficult for him to eat from the flat plate.

The hungry stork got angry and went home, but he did not show his anger. He decided to teach the fox a lesson. He invited the fox to dinner the next evening. The stork served the meal in a jar with a narrow neck. The fox could not put his long beak into the jar, so he could not eat. The fox was ashamed and said sorry to the stork. They became friends again. The moral: treat others as you want to be treated.

2. Words and Meaningsالفاظ اور معنی
🏷 Tags: clever, teased, beak, degrade, parts of speech, alphabetical order
ENGLISH

Clever means sharp and quick at learning. Teased means made fun of. Beak means the curved outer part of a bird's mouth. Degrade means to make people feel that they have no value.

In parts of speech, sort the words of the story into Verb, Noun, Adjective, Pronoun, Adverb, Preposition and Conjunction. Then arrange the given words in alphabetical order as in a dictionary: first look at the first letter, then the second letter, and so on.

3. Intonation Patterns and Speakingلہجے کے انداز اور بولنا
🏷 Tags: intonation, rising, falling, dialogue, polite, agree, disagree
ENGLISH

Intonation is the way our voice rises and falls in a sentence. Rising intonation is used at the end of yes/no questions: Are you ready? Do you like this? Will you come? Falling intonation is used in statements and wh-questions: Our voice rises at the end of a sentence. We should follow traffic rules. Do you know? What is your name?

In speaking, practise the dialogue between the Stork, the Fox and the Monkey about going to the new pond, and use polite words to agree or disagree: Yes, it is. No, it is not. I agree. I disagree. Then make a group of three students and ask them to agree or disagree by using polite words.

اردو

لہجہ (Intonation) وہ انداز ہے جس سے ہماری آواز جملے میں اوپر نیچے ہوتی ہے۔ اوپر جاتا لہجہ ہاں/نہیں والے سوالوں کے آخر میں آتا ہے: Are you ready? Do you like this? Will you come? نیچے آتا لہجہ بیانات اور wh-سوالوں میں آتا ہے: Our voice rises at the end of a sentence. We should follow traffic rules. Do you know? What is your name?

بولنے میں سارس، لومڑی اور بندر کے نئے تالاب پر جانے کے بارے میں مکالمے کی مشق کرو، اور اتفاق یا اختلاف کے لیے مہذب الفاظ استعمال کرو: Yes, it is. No, it is not. I agree. I disagree. پھر تین طلبہ کا گروہ بناؤ اور مہذب الفاظ سے اتفاق یا اختلاف کراؤ۔
