📌 ماخذ: یہ باب سرکاری پی سی ٹی بی انگریزی جماعت 4 کی کتاب سے بنایا گیا ہے۔ سبق کا خلاصہ اور وضاحت گائیڈ کے اپنے الفاظ میں ہے، کتاب کا متن نقل نہیں کیا گیا۔ مشق کے سوالات کتاب کی مشق کے انداز پر ہیں اور جوابات گائیڈ کے حل شدہ نمونہ جوابات ہیں۔
This unit, Time to Think!, is about traffic rules and a letter. Ahsan reads a brochure about road safety and writes a letter to the head of the traffic police about the traffic jam near his school. The lesson teaches us that traffic rules make us safe, and that a good citizen writes politely to solve a problem.
One day, Ahsan took out a brochure from his bag and showed it to his father. It had very interesting information about road safety. Today, I am going to school, and I will read it on the way, said Ahsan. His father read the brochure and said, That is really nice. Everyone should follow traffic rules. These make us safe while travelling.
But everyone does not follow the rules. There is always a traffic jam in front of Ahsan's school, because there is no traffic police there. That is not good. We should inform the traffic police about this issue, said his father. So Ahsan wrote a letter to the Inspector General of Traffic Police, asking him to solve the traffic jam problem near his school.
ایک دن احسن نے اپنے بیگ سے ایک بروشر نکالا اور اپنے والد کو دکھایا۔ اس میں سڑک کی حفاظت کے بارے میں بہت دلچسپ معلومات تھیں۔ Today, I am going to school, and I will read it on the way, احسن نے کہا۔ اس کے والد نے بروشر پڑھا اور کہا، That is really nice. Everyone should follow traffic rules. These make us safe while travelling.
لیکن ہر کوئی قوانین پر عمل نہیں کرتا۔ احسن کے اسکول کے سامنے ہمیشہ ٹریفک جام رہتا ہے، کیونکہ وہاں کوئی ٹریفک پولیس نہیں ہے۔ That is not good. We should inform the traffic police about this issue, اس کے والد نے کہا۔ اس لیے احسن نے ٹریفک پولیس کے انسپکٹر جنرل کو خط لکھا، جس میں اسکول کے قریب ٹریفک جام کا مسئلہ حل کرنے کی درخواست کی۔
Citizen means a person living permanently in a particular society or country. Headquarters means the main offices. Traffic police means an official who controls traffic, and specific means a person who walks, especially for exercise or enjoyment.
Learn the spellings: citizen, travelling, brochure, strange, traffic, enquired, inform, vehicles. Then learn regular plurals (adding s: car → cars, house → houses; adding es: bus → buses, match → matches; changing y to ies: story → stories, party → parties) and irregular plurals (goose → geese, wolf → wolves, ox → oxen, mouse → mice, child → children, foot → feet, city → cities).
Citizen یعنی کسی خاص معاشرے یا ملک میں مستقل رہنے والا شخص۔ Headquarters یعنی مرکزی دفاتر۔ Traffic police یعنی وہ اہلکار جو ٹریفک کو کنٹرول کرتا ہے، اور specific یعنی وہ شخص جو چلتا ہے، خاص طور پر ورزش یا تفریح کے لیے۔

Some words have weak forms: they are said quickly in a sentence, like and, of, or and but. Pronounce the weak forms in the given sentences: We feed some sugar and tea leaves. The food is tasty but the quantity is less.
In speaking, practise dialogues about feelings and needs: Sa'ad: Assalamu Alaikum, Usman. Where are you going? Usman: Wa Alaikum Assalam. Actually, my grandfather is not feeling well. I am going to get medicine for him. Sa'ad: Oh, sad to know. Do not worry. He will get well soon. Usman: Thank you. Where are you going? Sa'ad: My brother needs watercolours for his painting. I am going to buy them. Then read dialogues and express your needs, joy, sadness and anger.
کچھ الفاظ کی کمزور آوازیں ہوتی ہیں: وہ جملے میں جلدی بولے جاتے ہیں، جیسے and, of, or اور but۔ دیے گئے جملوں میں کمزور آوازیں بولو: We feed some sugar and tea leaves. The food is tasty but the quantity is less.
بولنے میں احساسات اور ضروریات کے بارے میں مکالموں کی مشق کرو: Sa'ad: Assalamu Alaikum, Usman. پھر مکالمے پڑھو اور اپنی ضروریات، خوشی، غم اور غصہ ظاہر کرو۔
Pointing words point to people and things: this, that, these, those. This is my favourite breakfast. That dress is beautiful. I like these vases. Those apples are very juicy. Use this/these for near things and that/those for far things.
Past continuous tense shows an action going on in the past: Subject + was/were + verb + ing. Sahar and Sofia were playing. He was not writing a letter. We were getting late for the flight. They were running for a race. Connectors show order: firstly, secondly, finally. Hyphens join words: twenty-one floors, one-fourth of the bread, well-known, mind-blowing. Prepositions of position: on, between, under, in front of, behind, right, left — use them to describe a picture.
اشارہ کرنے والے الفاظ لوگوں اور چیزوں کی طرف اشارہ کرتے ہیں: this, that, these, those۔ This is my favourite breakfast. That dress is beautiful. I like these vases. Those apples are very juicy. قریب کی چیزوں کے لیے this/these اور دور کی چیزوں کے لیے that/those استعمال کرو۔
ماضی جاری ماضی میں جاری کام کو ظاہر کرتا ہے: Subject + was/were + verb + ing۔ Sahar and Sofia were playing. He was not writing a letter. We were getting late for the flight. They were running for a race. جوڑنے والے الفاظ ترتیب بتاتے ہیں: firstly, secondly, finally۔ ہائفن الفاظ جوڑتا ہے: twenty-one floors, one-fourth of the bread, well-known, mind-blowing۔ جگہ کی حروف جار: on, between, under, in front of, behind, right, left — ان سے تصویر کی وضاحت کرو۔
A guided letter has parts: the writer's address, the date, the receiver's address, the salutation (Respected Sir), the body, and the closing (Yours sincerely). Ahsan's letter: House No. 123, Sector A, Islamabad. 22 February 2018. Inspector General, Traffic Police Headquarters, Islamabad. Respected Sir, I am writing this letter to inform you about the traffic jam issue near my school. Nobody follows the traffic rules, because there is no traffic police on this road. I often see people violating safety rules on this road. They also risk their lives and create problems for others as well. I request you to solve this issue for the citizens of this area. Yours sincerely, Ahsan.
Then write a letter to your friend sharing traffic and safety rules for pedestrians, and write a short expository paragraph (a paragraph that explains a process step by step) on how to pack your bag for a trip or how to set up a new computer.
رہنمائی والے خط کے حصے ہیں: لکھنے والے کا پتہ، تاریخ، وصول کرنے والے کا پتہ، سلام (Respected Sir)، متن، اور اختتام (Yours sincerely)۔ احسن کا خط: House No. 123, Sector A, Islamabad. 22 February 2018. پھر دوست کو ٹریفک اور پیدل چلنے والوں کے حفاظتی قوانین کے بارے میں خط لکھو، اور مختصر وضاحتی پیراگراف (وہ پیراگراف جو کسی عمل کو مرحلہ وار سمجھائے) لکھو: سفر کے لیے بیگ کیسے پیک کریں یا نیا کمپیوٹر کیسے سیٹ کریں۔
