This unit is The Pride of Pakistan. It tells the story of a school trip to the Army Museum in Lahore, where the children saw the Nishan-e-Haider Gallery and learned about the soldiers who gave their lives for the country. Our soldiers are our national heroes, and we should be proud of them.
یہ سبق پاکستان کا فخر ہے۔ اس میں لاہور کے آرمی میوزیم کے اسکول کے دورے کی کہانی ہے، جہاں بچوں نے نشان حیدر گیلری دیکھی اور ان سپاہیوں کے بارے میں سیکھا جنہوں نے ملک کے لیے جان دی۔ ہمارے سپاہی ہمارے قومی ہیرو ہیں، اور ہمیں ان پر فخر ہونا چاہیے۔
On a historical trip to the Army Museum in Lahore, the children saw many big galleries and walls with pictures of soldiers. In the Nishan-e-Haider Gallery, they learned about the great heroes who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan. Nishan-e-Haider means 'Mark of the Lion' and it is the highest military award in Pakistan.
One gallery was named 'Rebirth of a Nation'. It told the story of the struggle for freedom through paintings and photographs, including the address of Quaid-e-Azam to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on August 11, 1947. The children were very excited and felt proud of their heroes.
Sacrifice means to lay down life for a noble cause. Martyr means a person who sacrifices his life for a noble cause. Struggle means to try hard to do or achieve something.
Sacred means holy or worthy of great respect. Capture means to take control, and impatient means restless, not willing to wait. Use these words in sentences about our heroes.
Practise diphthongs in sentences: It was a Sunday morning. Tashif reached the sports ground early in the morning. He was there to support him. He was a bit nervous, somehow he pulled his energy together. Notice how two vowel sounds join in one syllable.
In speaking, practise the dialogue between Rida and Nazia about Defence Day: greet, ask about the school function, and make polite requests like Can you lend me your army dress for the school function tomorrow? Then role-play 'Request Your Friend to Lend You a Storybook to Read' with a partner.
ڈفتھانگ کی جملوں میں مشق کرو: It was a Sunday morning. Tashif reached the sports ground early in the morning. He was there to support him. He was a bit nervous, somehow he pulled his energy together. دیکھو کہ ایک ہی حصے میں دو حروف علت کی آوازیں کیسے ملتی ہیں۔
بولنے میں رضا اور نازیہ کے یوم دفاع کے بارے میں مکالمے کی مشق کرو: سلام کرو، اسکول کی تقریب کے بارے میں پوچھو، اور Can you lend me your army dress for the school function tomorrow? جیسی مہذب درخواستیں کرو۔ پھر ساتھی کے ساتھ 'دوست سے کہانی کی کتاب مانگنا' کا کردار ادا کرو۔
Some nouns have no change in their plural form: The sheep are grazing in the field. Sana has long hair. I saw deer in the forest. Sheep, deer and hair stay the same in singular and plural.
Helping verbs help the main verb: is, are, am, has, have, had, do and did. Examples: Ali is climbing the tree. Soldiers are fighting bravely. The boys did not finish their work. Prepositions of time are at, on and in: We have lunch at noon. I have a meeting at 9 a.m. They went for a walk in the morning. They went to the beach in summer. What did you do on Eid last year? Also learn the degrees of regular adjectives: heavy → heavier → heaviest, large → larger → largest, lucky → luckier → luckiest, old → older → oldest.
کچھ اسموں کی جمع میں کوئی تبدیلی نہیں ہوتی: The sheep are grazing in the field. Sana has long hair. I saw deer in the forest. Sheep, deer اور hair واحد اور جمع میں ایک جیسے رہتے ہیں۔
مددگار افعال مرکزی فعل کی مدد کرتے ہیں: is, are, am, has, have, had, do اور did۔ مثالیں: Ali is climbing the tree. Soldiers are fighting bravely. The boys did not finish their work. وقت کی حروف جار at, on اور in ہیں: We have lunch at noon. I have a meeting at 9 a.m. They went for a walk in the morning. They went to the beach in summer. What did you do on Eid last year? باقاعدہ صفت کے درجے بھی سیکھو: heavy → heavier → heaviest, large → larger → largest, lucky → luckier → luckiest, old → older → oldest۔
A descriptive paragraph describes a person, place or thing: it tells what it looks like and why it is special. Example from the book: Nishan-e-Haider is the highest military award of Pakistan. The meaning of Nishan-e-Haider is 'Mark of the Lion'. Usually, it is made of gun metal captured by the enemy. It is composed of 88 percent copper, 10 percent tin and 2 percent zinc. Since 1947, eleven men of the armed forces have won this award, for their heroic acts in dangerous situations and for sacrificing their lives.
Now write a descriptive paragraph on A Zoo in your notebook, and then a short paragraph: What would you do for the honour of your country? Use correct punctuation, spelling and capital letters.
بیانیہ پیراگراف کسی شخص، جگہ یا چیز کی وضاحت کرتا ہے: یہ بتاتا ہے کہ وہ کیسی لگتی ہے اور کیوں خاص ہے۔ کتاب کی مثال: Nishan-e-Haider is the highest military award of Pakistan.
اب کاپی میں A Zoo پر بیانیہ پیراگراف لکھو، اور پھر مختصر پیراگراف: What would you do for the honour of your country? درست اوقاف، ہجے اور بڑے حروف استعمال کرو۔

Sacrifice means to lay down life for a noble cause, like our soldiers who gave their lives for Pakistan.
Heavy → heavier (comparative) → heaviest (superlative).

A zoo is a place where animals and birds from many countries are kept for people to see. There are lions, tigers, elephants, monkeys and colourful birds in big cages and open fields. People, especially children, visit the zoo to learn about animals and enjoy nature. A zoo also helps to protect rare animals, and we should treat all animals with kindness.
For the honour of my country, I would study hard, respect the law and help my fellow citizens. I would keep my surroundings clean, protect public property and never cheat. If my country ever needs me, I would serve it honestly and bravely, like our soldiers who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan.
A visit to the Army Museum shows why our soldiers are our pride: Nishan-e-Haider, the Mark of the Lion, is the highest military award. The unit teaches words like sacrifice and martyr, diphthongs, nouns with no change, helping verbs, prepositions of time, degrees of adjectives and descriptive paragraphs.
