Unit 3 shows that women can be great role models: mothers, teachers, doctors, leaders and heroes. Boys and girls both deserve respect, education and equal chances to learn and work.
یونٹ 3 دکھاتا ہے کہ خواتین بہترین رول ماڈل ہو سکتی ہیں: مائیں، استادیں، ڈاکٹریں، رہنما اور ہیرو۔ لڑکوں اور لڑکیوں دونوں کو عزت، تعلیم اور سیکھنے و کام کرنے کے برابر مواقع ملنے چاہیے۔
This unit teaches us through a story or a text, and we practise reading, speaking and writing about it.
Read the text slowly, look at the pictures, and guess the meaning of new words before asking the teacher.
Read this unit as a search for examples, not just a story: every time a woman does something worth copying — teaching, healing, leading, caring — stop and note it in one line. At the end you will have your own list of role models, and that list is the real answer to the unit's question.
Then ask the unit's hardest question out loud: if a girl in your class is told she cannot do something, what would you say? Practise the answer before you need it, because respect is a habit, not a speech.
Learn the new words of this unit with their meanings and use each word in your own sentence.
Keep a word bank in your notebook: word, meaning, and one sentence. Revise it every week.
role model — a person whose good actions we copy. Example: My mother is my role model.
admire — to respect and like someone for their goodness. Example: I admire my teacher's patience.
equal — the same for everyone, not less for anyone. Example: Boys and girls deserve equal chances.
leader — a person who guides others. Example: A good leader listens and helps.
Grammar: action verbs. Words like 'run', 'teach', 'help' and 'lead' show actions.
We learn to use speech bubbles in writing: what a speaker says goes inside quotation marks.
To find an action verb, ask 'what is someone doing?' in the sentence: in 'Sara helps her mother', helps is the action, and mother is not, because a person is not an action. Run, read, help, teach and lead all pass this test, while happy, beautiful and quickly do not — those describe, they do not act.
Speech bubbles work the same way in writing: the spoken words go inside quotation marks, and the speaker's name goes outside, as in 'I will help my mother,' said Sara. Read it aloud and you will hear where the comma belongs — right before the closing mark, while the speaker is still speaking.
Every unit ends with a message for life. Think about how you can follow that message at home and at school.
Practise writing a short paragraph on the unit's theme: one topic sentence, three supporting sentences, and one ending sentence.
A paragraph about a woman you admire needs only four moves: name her and what she does, give one daily example, give one hard moment she did not give up in, and finish with what she taught you. The master's model paragraph does exactly this with a mother, and your paragraph can follow the same shape with any woman you know.
Avoid a list of praises with no example; one true example — she wakes early, she helps us study — is worth ten adjectives.
Revise with two tests: point at any word and ask 'action or not?', and point at any spoken line and ask 'inside the marks or outside?'. If you can answer both without thinking, the grammar of this chapter is yours.
And carry the message, not just the marks: equal respect is not a chapter heading, it is what you do when a girl answers first in class.
Exercise Questions — with Answers (from the library masters). These are SLO-based practice questions from the library masters, NOT the textbook's printed exercise — use your school book for the printed exercise. The English textbook prints no answer keys, so these answers are the masters' model answers, not official keys, and are kept as written in the masters.
