Source note / ذریعہ نوٹ: This revised page is built from the existing PunjabTest library chapter for this unit. The official Class 5 English textbook was not on disk for this build, so no official-book page coverage is claimed here and no official-book page numbers are given; no official status is claimed for the questions below, which are SLO-based practice questions from the library masters, with the masters' model answers (the English textbook prints no answer keys). Open questions whose answers vary carry the masters' example answers. The masters explain the unit's skills and themes; they do not reproduce the textbook's lesson text, and neither does this page. Urdu headings and the Urdu line on the banner are supplied translations for study help — the English textbook prints no Urdu subtitle. یہ نظرثانی شدہ صفحہ اس یونٹ کے موجودہ پنجاب ٹیسٹ لائبریری باب سے بنایا گیا ہے؛ سرکاری کتاب اس تعمیر کے دوران ڈسک پر موجود نہیں تھی۔

Unit 4 is about memories: moments we never forget, like a first day at school, a family trip, or a kind act. We learn to describe a memory with feelings and details.

اردو

یونٹ 4 یادوں کے بارے میں ہے: وہ لمحات جو ہم کبھی نہیں بھولتے، جیسے اسکول کا پہلا دن، خاندانی سیر، یا کوئی مہربانی۔ ہم یاد کو احساسات اور تفصیل سے بیان کرنا سیکھتے ہیں۔

1. About This Unitاس یونٹ کے بارے میں
🏷 Tags: memories, first day, feelings, details, reading
ENGLISH

This unit teaches us through a story or a text, and we practise reading, speaking and writing about it.

Read the text slowly, look at the pictures, and guess the meaning of new words before asking the teacher.

A memory becomes a story when you add four things in order: what happened, where and when it happened, how you felt, and why it still matters. Read the unit hunting for those four things in every example, and you will see that even a small moment — a teacher's smile on the first day — can carry all four.

For speaking, tell one memory to a friend in one minute using the same four steps, and time yourself: if you finish in a minute, you have told a story; if you take five, you have only listed facts.

Memories — Read, Think, SpeakWhat happened?→How you felt?→Why it matters
Yaadein samjho: یاد صرف یہ نہیں کہ کیا ہوا, یہ بھی کے کیسا محسوس ہوا — feelings کے بغیر یاد صرف خبر لگتی ہے, کہانی نہیں.

2. Words to Learnسیکھنے کے الفاظ
🏷 Tags: vocabulary, unforgettable, memory, proud, describe, word bank
ENGLISH

Learn the new words of this unit with their meanings and use each word in your own sentence.

Keep a word bank in your notebook: word, meaning, and one sentence. Revise it every week.

unforgettable — so special that you cannot forget it. Example: My first prize is unforgettable.

memory — something you remember from the past. Example: The school trip is a happy memory.

proud — happy about something good you or others did. Example: She felt proud of her prize.

describe — to tell about something in words. Example: Describe your picnic in two sentences.

Word bank samjho: Unforgettable کا مطلب ہے جو بھولنا مشکل ہو — ایسا لفظ جو خود اپنی مثال ہے.

3. Grammar Focus: Describing Words and Capitalsگرامر کی توجہ
🏷 Tags: grammar, describing words, beautiful, happy, exciting, capitals, Lahore
ENGLISH

Grammar: descriptive words and expressions. Words like 'beautiful', 'happy' and 'exciting' paint pictures in the reader's mind.

We learn capitalisation: names, places and the first word of a sentence begin with a capital letter.

Describing words paint pictures, but only if they are exact: sunny says more than good, joyful says more than nice, delicious says more than fine. When you write your three describing words for a picnic, test each one — would a stranger see the same picture from that word alone?

Capitals are simpler than they look: names of people and places, and the first word of every sentence, take a capital, and everything else does not. The test question 'ali went to lahore' has exactly three fixes — Ali, Lahore, and the full stop — and no more.

Describe a MemoryWhathappened→Where andwhen→How you felt→Why itmatters
Describing words samjho: Beautiful, happy اور exciting جیسے لفظ پڑھنے والے کے ذہن میں تصویر بناتے ہیں — اور نام, جگہ اور جملے کا پہلا لفظ capital سے لکھو.

4. Message and Writingپیغام اور تحریر
🏷 Tags: message, paragraph, unforgettable moment, feelings, ending sentence
ENGLISH

Every unit ends with a message for life. Think about how you can follow that message at home and at school.

Practise writing a short paragraph on the unit's theme: one topic sentence, three supporting sentences, and one ending sentence.

Your unforgettable-moment paragraph already has a shape waiting for it: the moment itself as the topic sentence, then what happened, how you felt, and who smiled or helped, then one ending sentence about why the day stays with you. The master's model — a first prize, a name called, a mother smiling — follows exactly this shape.

Write it in the past tense throughout: was, felt, smiled, promised. One present-tense verb slipping in is the commonest mark lost in this chapter, so read the paragraph back and circle every verb.

Write a ParagraphTopicsentence→Three details→Endingsentence
Paragraph samjho: اپنی یاد topic sentence سے شروع کرو, پھر کیا ہوا, کہاں, کب اور کیسا لگا — آخر میں یہ کے وہ دن کیوں یادگار ہے.

⭐ Key Points to Rememberیاد رکھنے کی اہم باتیں
🏷 Tags: key points, memories, details, feelings, describing words, capitals, past tense
ENGLISH
  • Memories can be described with details and feelings.
  • Descriptive words make writing vivid.
  • Capital letters start names, places and sentences.
  • Past events are told in the past tense.

Revise by writing, not by reading: write the three capital rules, the four memory steps, and two describing words from memory, then check. What you write wrong is what you revise; what you only read feels known and is forgotten.

Remember the chapter's quiet lesson too: sad memories stay for the same reason happy ones do — they taught something. A memory that changed you is unforgettable, whatever its feeling.
