A government runs a country. Pakistan's government has three parts: the legislature makes laws, the executive runs the country, and the judiciary decides justice.
Questions on this page are SLO-BASED — NOT THE OFFICIAL EXERCISE. The chapter name and topics follow the Punjab (PCTB / SNC) Class 5 book list for session 2026–27; the exercise questions below were written from the chapter's learning outcomes so that students can practice, because the official book PDF was not available to copy the exercise from.
This page is built from the PunjabTest library master for Class 5 Social Studies, Chapter 7. No official Class 5 Social Studies textbook was on disk when it was built, so no official-book page numbers are claimed here. The exercise below is the SLO-based practice exercise from the library master, not the official textbook exercise — use your school book for the official exercise. Dates and facts are kept exactly as in the master.

This chapter built the structure of government: legislature makes laws (Parliament: National Assembly + Senate), executive runs the country (Prime Minister and ministers), judiciary decides justice (courts). In a democracy people choose rulers by voting; government works at federal, provincial and local levels; and citizens owe duties — laws, taxes, honest votes and clean public places.
Revision guidance: Name the three parts and one job of each without looking. Then match each job — defence, schools, streets — to its level of government.
Topics in this chapter:
