This revised page was built from the existing Class 6 Mathematics library master chapter (chapter-7-complete-guide-book.html) in the same series. No official Class 6 Mathematics book copy was on disk for a fresh page-by-page check, so no book page numbers are claimed and the exercise below is the master chapter's own SLO-based practice set — NOT the official textbook exercise (the master itself labels it SLO-based, not copied from the book). Section explanations and answers follow the master chapter; nothing has been invented to fill gaps.

1. Profit and Loss
🏷 Tags: profit, loss
ENGLISH

Cost Price (CP) is what the shopkeeper pays; Selling Price (SP) is what the customer pays. If SP > CP, there is profit: Profit = SP − CP. If CP > SP, there is loss: Loss = CP − SP.

Example: CP Rs 800, SP Rs 1000 → Profit Rs 200. Profit % = (Profit ÷ CP) × 100 = 25%. Loss % is also found on CP, never on SP.

Profit / LossCP→SP→Profit = SP−CP→% on CP
Figure samjho: Profit or loss is always compared with the cost price.
2. Discount
🏷 Tags: discount
ENGLISH

Discount is a reduction from the marked price (MP). SP = MP − Discount. A shop offering "20% off" on a Rs 500 shirt gives discount Rs 100, so SP = Rs 400.

Discount % is found on the marked price: Discount % = (Discount ÷ MP) × 100.

DiscountMarked price→SP = MP − D→20% off→% on MP
Figure samjho: Discount comes off the marked price, not the cost price.
3. Simple Interest
🏷 Tags: simple, interest
ENGLISH

When money is borrowed or deposited, interest is paid for its use. Simple Interest (SI) = (P × R × T) ÷ 100, where P = principal, R = rate % per year, T = time in years.

Example: P = Rs 5000, R = 10%, T = 2 years → SI = (5000 × 10 × 2) ÷ 100 = Rs 1000. Amount = P + SI = Rs 6000.

Simple interestP: principal→R: rate %→T: years→SI = PRT/100
Figure samjho: SI = (Principal × Rate × Time) ÷ 100.
4. Percentage in Daily Lifeروزمرہ زندگی میں فیصد
🏷 Tags: percentage, daily, life
ENGLISH

Percent means "per hundred". 40% of 250 = (40 ÷ 100) × 250 = 100. Percentages describe exam marks, price rises, and population growth.

To convert a fraction to percent, multiply by 100: 3/4 = 75%. To find what percent one number is of another, divide and multiply by 100.

PercentagePer hundred→× 100→Marks→Price rise
Figure samjho: Percent = per hundred; multiply a fraction by 100.
5. Budgeting and Saving
🏷 Tags: budgeting, saving
ENGLISH

A budget plans income and spending: Income = Spending + Saving. If a student gets Rs 1000 pocket money, spends Rs 700 and saves Rs 300, the budget balances.

Saving a little regularly grows: Rs 100 saved every month becomes Rs 1200 in a year — before any interest.

BudgetIncome→Spending→Saving→Balance
Figure samjho: Income = Spending + Saving; save a little regularly.

SUMMARY

This chapter is money mathematics: profit and loss, discount, simple interest, everyday percentages, and the habit of budgeting and saving. Every formula here is short; the skill is knowing which price — cost, marked or selling — each percentage belongs to.

  • 1. Profit and Loss: Profit is selling price above cost price and loss is below it — both are always worked out on the cost price, never on the selling price.
  • 2. Discount: A discount is a cut from the marked price — the shop's selling price is what is left after the cut, not the marked price itself.
  • 3. Simple Interest: Simple interest grows evenly every year: principal × rate × time ÷ 100 — and the amount is principal plus interest.
  • 4. Percentage in Daily Life: Percentages in daily life are the same idea in shops, banks and marks — first find 1%, then scale to what is asked.
  • 5. Budgeting and Saving: A budget is a plan for money coming in and going out — saving is simply the part you decide not to spend.

Revision guidance: For every money question, first label cost price, marked price and selling price in the margin; then pick the formula, and never work a percentage on the wrong price.
