This revised page was built from the existing Class 7 Mathematics library master chapter (chapter-7-complete-guide-book.html) in the same series. No official Class 7 Mathematics book copy was on disk for a fresh page-by-page check, so no book page numbers are claimed and the exercise below is the master chapter's own SLO-based practice set — NOT the official textbook exercise (the master itself labels it SLO-based, not copied from the book). Section explanations and answers follow the master chapter; nothing has been invented to fill gaps.

Note: Chapter list follows PCTB Mathematics 7 (English Medium). A newer SNC edition may order or group some topics differently — please match the chapter title with your school's book.

1. Cost Price, Selling Price, Profit and Loss
🏷 Tags: cost, price, selling, profit, loss
ENGLISH

Cost price (CP) is what the seller paid; selling price (SP) is what the buyer pays. If SP > CP, there is a profit = SP − CP. If CP > SP, there is a loss = CP − SP.

Example: CP Rs 500, SP Rs 650 → profit Rs 150. Profit/loss percent is always calculated on CP, never on SP.

CP: what seller paid→SP: what buyer pays→SP > CP: profit↓CP > SP: loss

2. Profit and Loss Percent
🏷 Tags: profit, loss, percent
ENGLISH

Profit% = (Profit ÷ CP) × 100. Loss% = (Loss ÷ CP) × 100. Example: CP Rs 500, profit Rs 150 → profit% = (150 ÷ 500) × 100 = 30%.

To find SP from CP and profit%: SP = CP × (100 + profit%) ÷ 100. Example: CP Rs 800, profit 25% → SP = 800 × 125 ÷ 100 = Rs 1000.

3. Discount
🏷 Tags: discount
ENGLISH

Discount is a reduction from the marked price (MP): discount = MP − SP. Discount% is calculated on MP: discount% = (discount ÷ MP) × 100.

Example: MP Rs 1000, discount 20% → discount = Rs 200, SP = Rs 800. Shops advertise discounts, but the real bargain depends on comparing SP with other shops, not only on the discount%.

4. Simple Interest
🏷 Tags: simple, interest
ENGLISH

Simple interest (SI) = (P × R × T) ÷ 100, where P = principal, R = rate per year, T = time in years. Amount = P + SI.

Example: P Rs 10,000, R 10%, T 2 years → SI = (10,000 × 10 × 2) ÷ 100 = Rs 2,000; amount = Rs 12,000. Time must be in years: 6 months = 0.5 year.

Principal P→Rate R→Time T↓SI = PRT/100

5. Money Sense: Tax and Bills
🏷 Tags: money, sense, tax, bills
ENGLISH

A bill may add sales tax (a percent of the price) or a service charge. Example: a meal of Rs 1000 with 5% tax costs 1000 + 50 = Rs 1050. Always read a bill: check the items, the discount, and the tax before paying.

Budgeting is financial arithmetic too: income − spending = saving. If spending exceeds income, debt grows — and debt often carries interest, making it grow faster.

✏️ Exercise with Answers (SLO-Based — NOT the Official Exercise)
Multiple Choice Questions
MCQ 1: CP Rs 500, SP Rs 650. Profit% is…

Answer: (c) 30% — Profit = 150; 150/500 × 100 = 30%.

MCQ 2: Marked price Rs 1000, discount 20%. SP is…

Answer: (b) Rs 800 — Discount = 200; SP = 1000 − 200 = 800. رعایت = 200؛ SP = 1000 − 200 = 800۔

MCQ 3: SI on Rs 10,000 at 10% for 2 years is…

Answer: (b) Rs 2000 — SI = (10,000 × 10 × 2)/100 = 2000. SI = (10,000 × 10 × 2)/100 = 2000۔

MCQ 4: Profit% is always calculated on…

Answer: (c) cost price — By definition, profit/loss percent uses cost price as the base.

MCQ 5: A meal of Rs 1000 with 5% tax costs…

Answer: (b) Rs 1050 — Tax = 50; total = 1050.

Short, Long and Think Questions
Short Q1: A shopkeeper buys a toy for Rs 400 and sells it for Rs 340. Find loss and loss%.

Loss = 60; loss% = (60/400) × 100 = 15%.

نقصان = 60؛ نقصان% = (60/400) × 100 = 15%۔

Short Q2: Find SP if CP is Rs 800 and profit is 25%.

SP = 800 × 125/100 = Rs 1000.

SP = 800 × 125/100 = 1000 روپے۔

Short Q3: Find SI on Rs 5000 at 8% for 3 years.

SI = (5000 × 8 × 3)/100 = Rs 1200.

SI = (5000 × 8 × 3)/100 = 1200 روپے۔

Long Q1: A shirt's marked price is Rs 1500. The shop gives 20% discount, then adds 5% tax on the discounted price. What does the customer pay?

After discount: 1500 × 80/100 = 1200. Tax: 5% of 1200 = 60. Total = Rs 1260.

Long Q2: Ali wants to save Rs 12,000 in a year. His monthly income is Rs 5000. What is the most he can spend per month?

Monthly saving needed = 1000; so spending ≤ 5000 − 1000 = Rs 4000 per month.

Think! 1: A shop advertises '70% off' but first raised the marked price. Explain why a big discount% does not always mean a bargain.

Because discount% is on the marked price, not on the true value: a Rs 300 item marked at Rs 1000 and '70% off' still costs Rs 300 — no saving at all. Compare SP with other shops.
