A Naat praises the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This Naat opens with the line 'Do aalam ke Aaqa hamare Nabi' — 'Our Prophet, the Master of both worlds.' It presents him as the leader (Imam) of all prophets and messengers and a mercy for all creation.
The Naat praises his unmatched generosity — 'sakhawat ka darya' (a river of generosity) — and his unique status among all of Allah's creation.
Students often confuse the two opening forms. Hamd = praise of Allah alone. Naat = praise of the Prophet ﷺ. The book places them together so students learn both the difference and the respect due to each.
Rule of respect: a Hamd is addressed to Allah; a Naat is addressed about the Prophet ﷺ, never worshipping him — Muslims praise the Prophet ﷺ as Allah's beloved servant and messenger.
The Naat calls the Prophet's ﷺ generosity a river — it never ran dry. He gave food, clothes, time and forgiveness freely, even to those who wronged him. His home often had nothing left for himself after giving to others.
For students, the lesson is practical: generosity is not only money. Sharing notes, time, a smile and forgiveness are all 'rivers' a student can open for others.
Urdu nouns are مذکر (masculine) اور مونث (feminine). Some are haqiqi (real gender: larka/larki) and some غیر haqiqi (grammatical gender only: کتاب اس مونث, قلم اس مذکر, though neither اس male اور female).
Gender changes adjectives and verbs: 'acha larka' but 'achi larki'; 'qalam toot gaya' but 'kitaab gir gayi'. Learning a noun means learning its gender with it.
The Naat teaches love for the Prophet ﷺ expressed through following his Sunnah: truthfulness, kindness to neighbours, mercy to the weak, and care for the environment he taught us to protect.
Reciting a Naat is itself an act of love — done standing, with respect, in a clear voice. Students practice reciting this Naat's opening lines together.
