1. Iqbal's Shaheen
🏷 Tags: Give Wings to the Eagle's Children (Poem), Iqbal's Shaheen, Class 7 Urdu, Chapter 9

ENGLISH

This poem explains Allama Iqbal's favourite symbol, the Shaheen (eagle/falcon), which he used for the ideal qualities he wanted in Muslim youth. The poem urges young people to be self-reliant, hardworking and far-sighted.

In a letter, Iqbal listed five qualities of the Shaheen: self-respect, detachment, high flight, love of solitude, and sharp eyesight. The poem turns these into a prayer: give the eagle's children wings.

Self-respect→High flight→Solitude↓Sharp eyesight
Shaheen se samjho: Qualities of the Shaheen.
2. Self-Respect: Never Eat Another's Kill
🏷 Tags: Give Wings to the Eagle's Children (Poem), Self-Respect: Never Eat Another's Kill, Class 7 Urdu, Chapter 9

ENGLISH

The Shaheen's first quality is self-respect: it never eats another bird's kill. It hunts for itself, even when hungry. Iqbal wanted youth who earn their own success instead of living on others' efforts.

For students, this means: do your own homework, win your own marks, and never copy — a copied success is another's kill.

Hunts for itselfNever begged foodEarns successNo copying
Shaheen se samjho: Self-respect.
3. High Flight and Solitude
🏷 Tags: Give Wings to the Eagle's Children (Poem), High Flight and Solitude, Class 7 Urdu, Chapter 9

ENGLISH

The Shaheen flies high, above the storms that trouble lower birds, and loves solitude — it does not nest in crowds. Iqbal's youth, likewise, should aim high and not fear standing apart from the crowd for a right cause.

Detachment is the Shaheen's dervish-like life: it avoids making a comfortable nest, because comfort chains the spirit. Ambition, not luxury, is its home.

Flies above storms→Loves solitude→No comfortable nest↓Ambition is home
Shaheen se samjho: High flight and solitude.
4. Sharp Eyesight: Far-Sightedness
🏷 Tags: Give Wings to the Eagle's Children (Poem), Sharp Eyesight: Far-Sightedness, Class 7 Urdu, Chapter 9

ENGLISH

The Shaheen sees its prey from great heights — sharp eyesight means far-sightedness: seeing consequences before acting, planning for years, not only for today.

Students practice far-sightedness by asking: 'If I do this every day for a year, where will I be?' Small daily choices — one page read, one sum practiced — compound into a future.

Sees far→Plans ahead→Daily choices↓Future built
Shaheen se samjho: Far-sightedness.
5. The Prayer for Youth
🏷 Tags: Give Wings to the Eagle's Children (Poem), The Prayer for Youth, Class 7 Urdu, Chapter 9

ENGLISH

The poem is a prayer that today's children become Shaheens: self-reliant, ambitious, far-sighted, and unwilling to depend on others. Its title is itself the prayer: 'Parwaz-e-Shaheen bachon ko baal-o-par de' — give wings to the eagle's children.

Students are asked to choose one Shaheen quality to practice this month and to write how they will practice it.

Self-reliant→Ambitious→Far-sighted↓Independent
Shaheen se samjho: Be a Shaheen.

High flight means aiming above short-term fashions and storms of opinion; solitude means not fearing to stand apart for a right cause — a student who only follows the crowd never leads it.

QUESTIONS + ANSWERS
Think! 1: A friend says 'standing apart' is lonely and useless. Answer with the Shaheen's example.

The Shaheen's solitude is not loneliness but freedom: above the crowd it sees farther and flies higher. Standing apart for a right cause is how leaders are made — the crowd follows those who first stood alone.
