No official Class 8 General Science book was available on disk while building it, so no book page numbers are claimed here, and the exercise below is the library master’s exercise — it is NOT presented as the official book exercise and was not re-checked against the official book.
Electric current is the flow of charge, measured in amperes (A). A circuit needs a source (cell/battery), wires, a switch and a load (bulb). Current flows from positive to negative in the conventional direction; electrons actually flow the opposite way.
Voltage (V) is the energy given to each unit of charge; resistance (R) opposes current, measured in ohms (Ω). Ohm's law: V = IR. A long thin wire has more resistance than a short thick one; resistance also rises with temperature.
In a series circuit, components share one path: the same current flows everywhere, but voltage is shared, and one break stops everything. In a parallel circuit, each branch has its own path: voltage is the same across branches, and one bulb failing does not stop the others — this is why homes use parallel wiring.
Magnets attract iron, nickel and cobalt; like poles repel, unlike poles attract. A current-carrying wire makes a magnetic field, and a coil with an iron core is an electromagnet that can be switched on and off. Moving a magnet near a coil induces current — electromagnetic induction, the basis of generators; motors do the reverse.

10.1 The unit of current is the:
Answer: Ampere.
10.2 Ohm's law is:
Answer: V = IR. جواب: V = IR۔
10.3 In a series circuit, the current is:
Answer: The same everywhere.
10.4 Homes use parallel circuits because:
Answer: One failure does not stop others.
10.5 Like magnetic poles:
Answer: Repel.
10.1 Define electric current and its unit.
Answer: Flow of charge; ampere (A).
10.2 A bulb needs 2 A at 6 V. What is its resistance?
Answer: R = V ÷ I = 6 ÷ 2 = 3 Ω. جواب: R = V ÷ I = 6 ÷ 2 = 3 Ω۔
10.3 Why does one broken bulb switch off all bulbs in a series string?
Answer: There is only one path, so the break opens the whole circuit.
10.4 What is an electromagnet?
Answer: A coil with an iron core that becomes magnetic only while current flows.
10.1 Compare series and parallel circuits for current, voltage and failure, and explain why house wiring is parallel.
Answer: Series: same current, shared voltage, one failure stops all. Parallel: same voltage per branch, currents add, one failure leaves others working — so houses use parallel.
10.2 Explain electromagnetic induction and how a generator uses it to make electricity.
Answer: Moving a magnet near a coil (or a coil in a magnetic field) induces a current. A generator spins a coil in a magnetic field, so induction gives a continuous current.
Current and circuits (1): electric current is the flow of charge, measured in amperes (A); a circuit needs a source (cell/battery), wires, a switch and a load (bulb); conventional current flows positive to negative while electrons actually flow the opposite way. Voltage, resistance, Ohm's law (2): voltage (V) is the energy given to each unit of charge, resistance (R) opposes current in ohms (Ω), and V = IR; a long thin wire has more resistance than a short thick one, and resistance rises with temperature. Series and parallel (3): in series, components share one path — the same current everywhere, shared voltage, and one break stops everything; in parallel, each branch has its own path — the same voltage across branches, and one bulb failing does not stop the others, which is why homes use parallel wiring. Magnetism (4): magnets attract iron, nickel and cobalt; like poles repel and unlike poles attract; a current-carrying wire makes a magnetic field, a coil with an iron core is a switchable electromagnet, moving a magnet near a coil induces current (electromagnetic induction, the basis of generators), and motors do the reverse.
Revision guidance: Series اور parallel کا فرق table میں لکھو (current, voltage, failure) — long question 10.1 اسی table سے حل ہوتا ہے; numerical R = V ÷ I = 6 ÷ 2 = 3 Ω کی مشق ضرور کرو.
