This revised page was built from the existing Class 8 Mathematics library master chapter (chapter-13-complete-guide-book.html) in the same series. No official Class 8 Mathematics book copy was on disk for a fresh page-by-page check, so no book page numbers are claimed and the exercise below is the master chapter's own SLO-based practice set — NOT the official textbook exercise (the master itself labels it SLO-based, not copied from the book). Section explanations and answers follow the master chapter; nothing has been invented to fill gaps.

1. Sample Space and Events
🏷 Tags: sample, space, events
ENGLISH

Probability measures how likely something is, from 0 (impossible) to 1 (certain). The sample space is all possible outcomes: for a coin {H, T}, for a die {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}. An event is a set of outcomes we care about, e.g. 'getting an even number'.

Figure samjho: Probability = wanted outcomes ÷ all outcomes.
2. Theoretical and Experimental Probability
🏷 Tags: theoretical, experimental, probability
ENGLISH

Theoretical probability = wanted outcomes ÷ total outcomes, assuming fairness: P(6 on a die) = 1/6. Experimental probability = times it happened ÷ trials done; it gets closer to the theoretical value as trials increase.

Figure samjho: More trials → closer to theory.
3. Addition Law for Mutually Exclusive Events
🏷 Tags: addition, law, mutually, exclusive, events
ENGLISH

Events are mutually exclusive if they cannot happen together (a die cannot show 2 and 5 at once). Then P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B). If they can overlap, subtract the overlap: P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B) − P(A∩B).

P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B)۔ اگر وہ اوورلیپ کر سکیں تو اوورلیپ گھٹائیں: P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B) − P(A∩B)۔

Addition lawExclusive: add→Overlap: subtractAddition law
Figure samjho: Mutually exclusive: P(A∩B) = 0.
باہم مانع: P(A∩B) = 0۔
4. Multiplication Law for Independent Events
🏷 Tags: multiplication, law, independent, events
ENGLISH

Events are independent if one does not affect the other (two coin tosses). Then P(A∩B) = P(A) × P(B). Example: P(two heads) = 1/2 × 1/2 = 1/4. Drawing coloured balls from a bag changes probabilities if the ball is not replaced — then events are dependent.

Multiple Choice Questions
13.1 P(6 on a fair die) =

Answer: (b) 1/6

13.2 If two events are mutually exclusive, P(A∩B) =

Answer: (b) 0

13.3 Addition law for exclusive events:

Answer: (a) P(A)+P(B) جواب: P(A) + P(B)۔

13.4 Multiplication law for independent events:

Answer: (b) P(A)×P(B) جواب: P(A) × P(B)۔

13.5 In a bag with 20 red balls out of 100 total, P(red) =

Answer: (a) 0.2 جواب: 0.2۔

Short Answer Questions
13.1 What is the sample space of tossing two coins?

Answer: {HH, HT, TH, TT}. جواب: {HH, HT, TH, TT}۔

13.2 Find P(even number) on a die.

Answer: 3/6 = 1/2.

13.3 Are 'die shows 2' and 'die shows 5' mutually exclusive? Why?

Answer: Yes — both cannot happen on one throw.

13.4 Are two coin tosses independent? Why?

Answer: Yes — the first does not affect the second.

Long Answer Questions
13.1 A bag has 20 red balls out of 100 total balls. A ball is drawn, then replaced, then drawn again. Find P(red both times) and explain which law you used.

Answer: Each draw: P(red) = 0.2. With replacement, draws are independent: 0.2 × 0.2 = 0.04 (multiplication law).

13.2 A die is thrown once. Find P(prime number or even number), explaining whether the events are mutually exclusive.

Answer: Primes: {2,3,5}; evens: {2,4,6}; overlap {2}. P = 3/6 + 3/6 − 1/6 = 5/6. Not exclusive because 2 is both.
