📌 ماخذ: یہ باب سرکاری پی سی ٹی بی انگریزی جماعت 4 کی کتاب سے بنایا گیا ہے۔ سبق کا خلاصہ اور وضاحت گائیڈ کے اپنے الفاظ میں ہے، کتاب کا متن نقل نہیں کیا گیا۔ مشق کے سوالات کتاب کی مشق کے انداز پر ہیں اور جوابات گائیڈ کے حل شدہ نمونہ جوابات ہیں۔
This unit is about the Beauty of Nature. It begins with the life cycle of a butterfly and a poem, Caterpillar, by Christina Rossetti. Nature is full of beauty: plants, trees, insects and birds all show the greatness of Allah, and we should care for them instead of harming them.
یہ سبق فطرت کے حسن کے بارے میں ہے۔ اس کا آغاز تتلی کے زندگی کے چکر اور کرسٹینا رازیٹی کی نظم Caterpillar سے ہوتا ہے۔ فطرت حسن سے بھری ہے: پودے، درخت، کیڑے اور پرندے اللہ کی عظمت دکھاتے ہیں، اور ہمیں انہیں نقصان پہنچانے کے بجائے ان کی دیکھ بھال کرنی چاہیے۔
The butterfly is a beautiful and colourful insect, but how does it get its colours? It is not born the way it is. It starts as an egg, becomes a caterpillar, then a pupa in a cocoon, and finally a butterfly with bright wings.
In the poem Caterpillar, the poet describes a brown and furry caterpillar in a hurry, taking a walk on the shady leaf or stalk. It eats, grows, spins and dies — and then, wonderfully, it becomes a butterfly. The poem teaches us that small creatures of nature are full of wonder.
Furry means covered with fur. Stalk means the main stem of a plant. Hover means to stay in the air at one place, like a butterfly over a flower. Toad means a small animal like a frog but with drier and less smooth skin, and spy means to observe silently.
The unit also teaches rhyming words: words that end with the same sound, like trees, bees, way and day. Complete the given rhyme with the word bank: A little seed for me to sow, a little soil to ___, a little hole, a little pat, a little wish, and a little shower, a little sun, a little rain, and a little flower will ___.
A little seed for me to sow, a little soil to ___, a little hole, a little pat, a little wish, and a little shower, a little sun, a little rain, and a little flower will ___.
Some words have silent letters: letters that are written but not pronounced. Practise these: climb, design, thumb, talk, honest, autumn, wrap, knee, fasten, knock and often. In each word, one letter stays silent when you speak.
In speaking, practise the dialogue between the Butterfly and the Ladybird: greet each other, ask about likes and dislikes, and use polite expressions like Good morning! How are you? Thank you! Then practise the same dialogue in pairs and introduce yourself and your friends.
Good morning! How are you? Thank you! جیسے مہذب جملے استعمال کرو۔ پھر یہی مکالمہ جوڑوں میں دہراؤ اور اپنا اور دوستوں کا تعارف کراؤ۔
A collective noun is a word for a group of people or things, for example: a crowd of people, a bouquet of flowers, a flock of butterflies, a swarm of bees, a group of students and a team of players.
Articles: write a or an before the given words (for example an honest girl, a wrapper, a knife, an hour). Adjectives of origin tell us where something comes from: Shazia likes to eat Australian apples; he has bought a new Italian car; Pakistani culture is a diverse culture. Also remember to use capital letters for the names of people, cities and countries.
Collective noun لوگوں یا چیزوں کے گروہ کا نام ہے، جیسے: a crowd of people, a bouquet of flowers, a flock of butterflies, a swarm of bees, a group of students اور a team of players۔
آرٹیکلز: دیے گئے الفاظ سے پہلے a یا an لکھو (جیسے an honest girl, a wrapper, a knife, an hour)۔ اصل کی صفت بتاتی ہے کہ چیز کہاں سے آئی ہے: Shazia likes to eat Australian apples; he has bought a new Italian car; Pakistani culture is a diverse culture. لوگوں، شہروں اور ملکوں کے نام بڑے حروف سے لکھنا بھی یاد رکھو۔
To write a good paragraph, first write the topic sentence (the main idea), then add supporting details (other sentences that explain it). Join your sentences with and, but and because.
The book asks you to write a paragraph on The Life Cycle of a Butterfly using these joining words, and then a paragraph on Saving Earth: nature is a blessing and a gift from Allah; flowers, trees, insects, the sun, the moon, hills and rivers are all part of nature; animals, insects and birds also get food and shelter from nature; so we must care for it every day.
اچھا پیراگراف لکھنے کے لیے پہلے موضوع کا جملہ (مرکزی خیال) لکھو، پھر تفصیلات (وضاحت کرنے والے جملے) دو۔ جملوں کو and, but اور because سے جوڑو۔
کتاب میں The Life Cycle of a Butterfly
The questions below follow the book's exercise sections for this unit: reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and writing. Answers are solved model answers — read them, then try each question yourself with the book closed.
MCQ 1: What will the caterpillar become?
(b) A butterfly. The caterpillar grows, spins a cocoon and comes out as a butterfly.
MCQ 2: The poem 'Caterpillar' was written by:
(c) Christina Rossetti.
MCQ 3: The caterpillar is walking to the:
(d) shady leaf. In the poem the caterpillar walks on the shady leaf or stalk.
MCQ 4: Which word has a silent letter?
(a) Climb. The letter b in climb is silent.
MCQ 5: Choose the correct collective noun: A ___ of butterflies flew over the lake.
(b) flock. A group of butterflies is called a flock.
Egg → caterpillar (larva) → pupa in a cocoon → butterfly. The caterpillar eats and grows, then changes inside the cocoon and comes out with wings.
Furry means covered with fur, like the brown furry caterpillar in the poem.
Bees and knees. Rhyming words end with the same sound.
Because insects are a part of nature and useful to it: they help plants grow and keep the environment balanced. We should observe them, not harm them.
A butterfly begins its life as a small egg on a leaf. The egg hatches and a caterpillar comes out, and it eats leaves and grows bigger every day. But it does not stay a caterpillar, because it spins a cocoon around itself and changes inside it. Finally, a beautiful butterfly comes out of the cocoon and flies away with colourful wings.
Nature is a blessing and a gift from Allah for us. Flowers, trees, insects, the sun, the moon, hills and rivers are all part of nature, and animals and birds get food and shelter from it. But people damage nature by cutting trees and throwing waste everywhere. So we should plant trees, keep our surroundings clean and save water and electricity, because a clean Earth is a happy home for everyone.
A butterfly's life has four stages — egg, caterpillar, pupa and butterfly — and the poem Caterpillar shows its wonder. The unit teaches words like furry, stalk and hover, silent letters, collective nouns, articles, adjectives of origin and paragraph writing with joining words.
Revision tip: Say the four stages of the butterfly's life in order, then write five silent-letter words and five collective nouns from memory.
