Unit 10 celebrates Eid-ul-Azha: the festival of sacrifice, sharing and caring. Muslims remember Hazrat Ibrahim's obedience, share meat with the poor, and meet family with joy.
یونٹ 10 عید الاضحی مناتا ہے: قربانی، بانٹنے اور دیکھ بھال کا تہوار۔ مسلمان حضرت ابراہیم کی اطاعت یاد کرتے ہیں، غریبوں سے گوشت بانٹتے ہیں، اور خوشی سے خاندان سے ملتے ہیں۔
This unit teaches us through a story or a text, and we practise reading, speaking and writing about it.
Read the text slowly, look at the pictures, and guess the meaning of new words before asking the teacher.
Eid-ul-Azha has three movements, and the unit follows them in order: remembering obedience, sharing the meat, and meeting family with joy. Read it in that order and the festival stops being a holiday and becomes a story — first the lesson, then the giving, then the joy that giving makes.
The sharing rule is exact and worth memorising as a number: three parts — family, relatives and friends, and the poor. A number remembered is a duty remembered, and the poor's part is not leftovers; it is a full third.
Learn the new words of this unit with their meanings and use each word in your own sentence.
Keep a word bank in your notebook: word, meaning, and one sentence. Revise it every week.
sacrifice — giving something precious for a greater good. Example: Eid-ul-Azha remembers sacrifice.
share — to give part of what you have to others. Example: We share meat with the poor.
obedience — doing what you are rightly asked to do. Example: Hazrat Ibrahim's obedience is remembered.
charity — giving to help the poor. Example: Charity makes Eid joyful for everyone.
Grammar: agreeing and disagreeing politely. 'I agree because…' and 'I disagree, but I think…'.
We learn festival vocabulary: sacrifice, charity, congregation, greetings.
Polite disagreement is a sentence with two rooms: the first room respects the other person — 'I disagree, but…' — and the second room gives your own view with a reason. Never start with 'You are wrong', because that closes the first room before the second can open.
Festival words carry the same care: sacrifice is not just an animal, it is giving up something precious; charity is not just money, it is care made visible; congregation is people together; greetings are joy made into words — Eid Mubarak. Learn each word with its feeling, not just its spelling.
گرامر: شائستگی سے اتفاق اور اختلاف۔ 'I agree because…' اور 'I disagree, but I think…'۔
Every unit ends with a message for life. Think about how you can follow that message at home and at school.
Practise writing a short paragraph on the unit's theme: one topic sentence, three supporting sentences, and one ending sentence.
Your family Eid paragraph is a day told in order: prayer, sacrifice, sharing with relatives and poor neighbours, Eidi for children, visits to family. Write it as a day, not as a list of customs, and the reader will feel the day pass.
The sharing paragraph is the same day from the poor neighbour's side: Eid joy grows when the poor also eat well and celebrate with us. If your paragraph does not mention the poor, it has described a holiday, not Eid-ul-Azha.
Revise with three numbers and two sentences: three parts of the meat, one polite disagreement, one polite agreement with because. Say them aloud to someone at home — festival learning is family learning, and it is tested at home before it is tested at school.
Keep the chapter's balance: new clothes and meat are the surface of Eid; obedience, sacrifice and care for the poor are its lesson. A child who helps the poor on Eid — a share of Eidi, shared food, an invitation to play — has understood the chapter.
Exercise Questions — with Answers (from the library masters). These are SLO-based practice questions from the library masters, NOT the textbook's printed exercise — use your school book for the printed exercise. The English textbook prints no answer keys, so these answers are the masters' model answers, not official keys, and are kept as written in the masters. The chapter has 4 multiple-choice, 4 short-answer, 2 long-answer and 2 think-and-answer questions — all 12 are attended below.
