Unit 11 teaches helpfulness: small acts of help at home, school and in the neighbourhood make life better for everyone. Helpful children are loved and trusted.
یونٹ 11 مددگار بننا سکھاتا ہے: گھر، اسکول اور محلے میں مدد کے چھوٹے کام سب کی زندگی بہتر بناتے ہیں۔ مددگار بچے محبوب اور قابل اعتماد ہوتے ہیں۔
This unit teaches us through a story or a text, and we practise reading, speaking and writing about it.
Read the text slowly, look at the pictures, and guess the meaning of new words before asking the teacher.
Helpfulness is measured in noticing, not in waiting: the child who sees a bag too heavy, a room untidy, a younger sibling stuck on a lesson, and acts before being asked, is kinder than the child who helps only on order. Read the unit looking for unasked help, and you will find the chapter's real hero.
There is one careful exception, and the unit states it plainly: doing someone's homework for them is not help, because real help teaches. Help that makes the other person weaker is not kindness; it is kindness wearing the wrong clothes.
Learn the new words of this unit with their meanings and use each word in your own sentence.
Keep a word bank in your notebook: word, meaning, and one sentence. Revise it every week.
helpful — ready to help others. Example: A helpful child is loved by all.
neighbour — a person who lives near you. Example: We help our neighbours in need.
anecdote — a short true story about something that happened. Example: Tell an anecdote about helping.
offer — to say you will do something for someone. Example: Can I help you? is an offer.
Grammar: creative writing. We write short passages, anecdotes and fables with a beginning, middle and end.
We learn to use 'can' and 'could' for offering help: 'Can I help you?'
Every story, even a five-line fable, has three rooms: a beginning that sets the scene, a middle where something changes, and an end where the lesson lands. The ant and the dove fable works because its middle changes everything — the saved dove becomes the saver — and its end states the lesson in one line: help returns as help.
Offering help has its own small grammar: 'Can I help you?' opens a door, 'Could you help me?' asks through it politely, and 'Can I help you carry this bag?' is better than both, because it names the help. Vague offers are easy to refuse; named offers are easy to accept.
گرامر: تخلیقی تحریر۔ ہم آغاز، درمیان اور اختتام کے ساتھ مختصر مضامین، واقعات اور کہانیاں لکھتے ہیں۔
ہم مدد کی پیشکش کے لیے 'can' اور 'could' سیکھتے ہیں: 'Can I help you?'
مدد کی پیشکش کی اپنی چھوٹی گرامر ہے: 'Can I help you?' دروازہ کھولتا ہے، 'Could you help me?' شائستگی سے اس سے گزر کر پوچھتا ہے، اور 'Can I help you carry this bag?' دونوں سے بہتر ہے، کیونکہ وہ مدد کا نام لیتا ہے۔ مبہم پیشکشیں انکار کرنا آسان ہوتا ہے؛ نام والی پیشکشیں قبول کرنا آسان ہوتا ہے۔
Every unit ends with a message for life. Think about how you can follow that message at home and at school.
Practise writing a short paragraph on the unit's theme: one topic sentence, three supporting sentences, and one ending sentence.
A fable of five lines is a story with the fat cut off: line one sets the scene, lines two and three change it, line four turns it, line five teaches. Write your ant and dove fable by counting lines on your fingers, and cut any line that does not move the story.
The class question — how does helpfulness make a class better — is answered with three feelings and one picture: everyone feels cared for, work finishes faster, and the class becomes like a family. Feelings first, picture last, and the answer reads like a family, not a list.
Revise by offering: offer help three times today — once at home, once at school, once in the neighbourhood — and note which offer was accepted fastest. The named offer wins, and that is the chapter's grammar lesson in real life.
Remember the two definitions that carry marks: an anecdote is a short true story, and a story has a beginning, a middle and an end. Everything else in the chapter is those two definitions put to work.
Exercise Questions — with Answers (from the library masters). These are SLO-based practice questions from the library masters, NOT the textbook's printed exercise — use your school book for the printed exercise. The English textbook prints no answer keys, so these answers are the masters' model answers, not official keys, and are kept as written in the masters. The chapter has 4 multiple-choice, 4 short-answer, 2 long-answer and 2 think-and-answer questions — all 12 are attended below.

Everyone feels cared for, work finishes faster, and the class becomes like a family.
سب کو دیکھ بھال محسوس ہوتی ہے، کام جلدی ختم ہوتا ہے، اور جماعت خاندان جیسی بن جاتی ہے۔
No: noticing someone's need and offering help first is even kinder.
نہیں: کسی کی ضرورت دیکھ کر پہلے مدد پیش کرنا اور بھی مہربانی ہے۔
Yes, if it means doing someone's homework for them instead of teaching them — real help teaches.
ہاں، اگر اس کا مطلب کسی کا ہوم ورک اس کی جگہ کرنا ہو بجائے سکھانے کے — اصل مدد سکھاتی ہے۔
