Source note / ذریعہ نوٹ: This revised page is built from the existing PunjabTest library chapter for this unit. The official Class 5 English textbook was not on disk for this build, so no official-book page coverage is claimed here and no official-book page numbers are given; no official status is claimed for the questions below, which are SLO-based practice questions from the library masters, with the masters' model answers (the English textbook prints no answer keys). Open questions whose answers vary carry the masters' example answers. The masters explain the unit's skills and themes; they do not reproduce the textbook's lesson text, and neither does this page. Urdu headings and the Urdu line on the banner are supplied translations for study help — the English textbook prints no Urdu subtitle.

1. About This Unitاس یونٹ کے بارے میں
🏷 Tags: gratitude, blessings, thankfulness, reading, message
ENGLISH

This unit teaches us through a story or a text, and we practise reading, speaking and writing about it.

Read the text slowly, look at the pictures, and guess the meaning of new words before asking the teacher.

Gratitude is not a feeling you wait for; it is a habit of noticing. Read the unit looking for blessings the way you would look for things on a list — food on the table, a teacher's help, a friend's smile — and mark each one you find. By the end, the list is the lesson.

For speaking, name three blessings before you sleep tonight, out loud, and say thanks for each one by name. Children who do this for a week usually find that complaining feels strange afterwards, because the habit of thanks has taken its place.

grateful — thankful for what you have. Example: I am grateful for my family and my school.

blessing — a good gift in life, like health or food. Example: Good health is a great blessing.

3. Grammar Focus: Short and Long Vowelsگرامر کی توجہ
🏷 Tags: grammar, vowels, short i, long i, bit, bite, opinion, I think
ENGLISH

Grammar: short and long vowel sounds. 'Bit' has a short 'i' sound, 'bite' has a long 'i' sound.

We learn to express and respond to opinions: 'I think…' and 'In my opinion…'.

Short and long vowels are heard, not just seen: say bit and bite slowly and feel how the i stretches in bite. The letter e at the end is often the signal — it stays silent itself but makes the vowel before it say its name. Try the same test on pin and pine, and on cap and cape.

Opinions need soft words, not loud ones. 'I think…' and 'In my opinion…' tell the listener that a view is coming, and a polite reply starts with listening first: 'I agree because…' or 'I see your point, but…'. Practise both sides with a friend on a small question, like the best hobby.

اردو

گرامر: چھوٹی اور لمبی آوازیں۔ 'bit' میں چھوٹی 'i' کی آواز ہے، 'bite' میں لمبی 'i' کی آواز ہے۔

ہم رائے ظاہر کرنا اور اس کا جواب دینا سیکھتے ہیں: 'I think…' اور 'In my opinion…'۔

اور 'In my opinion…' سننے والے کو بتاتے ہیں کہ رائے آ رہی ہے، اور شائستہ جواب پہلے سننے سے شروع ہوتا ہے: 'I agree because…' یا 'I see your point, but…'۔ کسی چھوٹے سوال پر، جیسے بہترین مشغلہ، دوست کے ساتھ دونوں طرف کی مشق کرو۔

Short vs Long Vowelsbit — short ibite — long ivs
Vowels samjho: Bit میں چھوٹی i اور bite میں لمبی i — ایک ہی حرف کی آواز بدلنے سے لفظ کا مطلب بدل جاتا ہے, اس لیے کان سے sun کر فرق کرو.

4. Message and Writingپیغام اور تحریر
🏷 Tags: message, poem, four lines, gratitude, paragraph
ENGLISH

Every unit ends with a message for life. Think about how you can follow that message at home and at school.

Practise writing a short paragraph on the unit's theme: one topic sentence, three supporting sentences, and one ending sentence.

A four-line poem about gratitude works best in two pairs: the first two lines name the blessings, the next two say thanks. Keep each line short, and let the end words rhyme where you can — rain and pain, home and roam — but do not force a rhyme that breaks the meaning; a true line beats a rhyming line.

After writing, read it aloud to hear the beat. If a line feels too long, cut one word; poems are felt in the ear before they are judged on paper.

Write a ParagraphTopicsentence→Three details→Endingsentence
Poem samjho: شکر پر چار مصرعوں کی نظم میں ہر دو مصرعے ایک سوچ پوری کرتے ہیں — پہلے پڑھو, پھر اپنے لفظوں میں دوبارہ لکھو.

⭐ Key Points to Rememberیاد رکھنے کی اہم باتیں
🏷 Tags: key points, gratitude, thanks, vowels, opinions
ENGLISH
  • Gratitude means noticing blessings and saying thanks.
  • We thank Allah and the people who help us.
  • Short and long vowels change a word's sound.
  • Opinions can be shared politely.

Revise by ear: say bit, bite, sit, and pin aloud and sort them into short-i and long-i piles without looking. Then say one opinion sentence and one thanks sentence each, and you have revised the whole chapter in three minutes.

The question to carry into the test is simple: is this child noticing blessings, or only complaining? Every answer in the exercise points back to that one test.

Exercise Questions — with Answers (from the library masters). These are SLO-based practice questions from the library masters, NOT the textbook's printed exercise — use your school book for the printed exercise. Think! Q1: Is a rich child always more grateful than a poor child? Why?

No: gratitude is about attitude, not wealth. A poor child can be very grateful and a rich child ungrateful.

نہیں: شکر گزاری رویے کی بات ہے، دولت کی نہیں۔ غریب بچہ بہت شکر گزار ہو سکتا ہے اور امیر بچہ ناشکرا۔

Think! Q2: What happens when people only complain and never thank?

They feel sad and others stop helping happily; gratitude makes relationships strong.

وہ اداس رہتے ہیں اور دوسرے خوشی سے مدد کرنا چھوڑ دیتے ہیں؛ شکر گزاری رشتے مضبوط کرتی ہے۔
