Source note / ذریعہ نوٹ: This revised page is built from the existing PunjabTest library chapter for this unit. The official Class 7 English textbook was not on disk for this build, so no official-book page coverage is claimed here and no official-book page numbers are given; no official status is claimed for the questions below, which are SLO-based practice questions from the library masters, with the masters' model answers (the English textbook prints no answer keys). The masters explain the unit's skills and themes; they do not reproduce the textbook's lesson text, and neither does this page. The masters follow the SNC English 7 unit list; the book's Review sections are revision pages and are not counted here as separate units. Urdu headings and the Urdu line on the banner are supplied translations for study help — the English textbook prints no Urdu subtitle. یہ نظرثانی شدہ صفحہ اس یونٹ کے موجودہ پنجاب ٹیسٹ لائبریری باب سے بنایا گیا ہے؛ سرکاری کتاب اس تعمیر کے دوران ڈسک پر موجود نہیں تھی۔

اس chapter میں topics (Topics in this chapter)

1. A Mountain of a Dreamپہاڑ جیسا خواب
🏷 Tags: dream, Everest, mountains, Pakistan, woman, first, courage
ENGLISH

This lesson tells the story of a Pakistani woman who dared to climb the world's highest mountains — including Mount Everest — in a field where very few women, especially from Pakistan, had gone before. Her story begins not on a mountain but in a classroom, with a love of adventure and a refusal to accept 'girls cannot do this'.

Samina Baig, the first Pakistani woman to climb Everest (2013) and later K2, is the best-known example. The lesson uses her journey to teach courage, planning and respect for nature.

2. Training, Teamwork and Dangerتربیت، ٹیم ورک اور خطرہ
🏷 Tags: training, teamwork, Sherpa, oxygen, ropes, crampons, danger
ENGLISH

Climbing an 8,000-metre peak needs years of training: fitness, ice-climbing skills, and learning to use oxygen, ropes and crampons. Climbers work in teams — no one climbs Everest alone — and Sherpas and guides carry loads and fix ropes.

Dangers include avalanches, thin air (less oxygen), frostbite and sudden storms. Climbers must know when to turn back: reaching the top matters less than returning alive.

3. Breaking Barriersرکاوٹیں توڑنا
🏷 Tags: barriers, girls, Hunza, minds changed, aim high, inspiration
ENGLISH

When Samina Baig climbed, many people said mountain climbing was 'not for girls'. Her success changed minds: girls in her home region of Hunza, and across Pakistan, saw that they too could aim high — in sports, science, or any field.

The lesson's message is wider than sport: barriers fall when talent meets hard work and family support. Her brother Mirza Ali climbed with her, showing that brothers and families can be a girl's greatest supporters.

Doubt→Hard work→Summit↓Inspiration
Rukawaten samjho: Log کہتے تھے پہاڑ چڑھنا 'لڑکیوں کا کام نہیں' — Samina Baig کی کامیابی نے ذہن بدل دیے, Hunza اور پورے Pakistan کی لڑکیوں نے دیکھا کے وہ بھی اونچا سوچ سکتی ہیں.
رکاوٹیں توڑنا۔
4. Grammar Focus: Prefixes and Suffixesگرامر: سابقے اور لاحقے
🏷 Tags: prefixes, suffixes, un, re, dis, -er, -ful, meaning
ENGLISH

Prefixes come before a root (un-happy, re-climb, dis-agree) and suffixes come after it (climb-er, brave-ry, hope-ful). Adding them changes meaning: 'happy' → 'unhappy' (not happy); 'climb' → 'climber' (a person who climbs).

Common pairs: -er/-or for people (teacher, climber), -ful for 'full of' (hopeful, careful), -less for 'without' (fearless, hopeless).

un + happyclimb + erhope + fulfear + less
Prefix-suffix samjho: Prefix root سے پہلے (un-happy, re-climb), suffix بعد میں (climb-er, hope-ful) — لگانے سے مطلب بدلتا ہے: happy سے unhappy, climb سے climber.
سابقے اور لاحقے۔
5. What Students Can Learnطلبہ کیا سیکھ سکتے ہیں
🏷 Tags: students, goal, small steps, diary, daily training, help
ENGLISH

You do not need a mountain to copy her habits: set a big goal, break it into small steps, train daily, and ask for help from family and teachers. Keep a diary of progress, as climbers keep expedition logs.

Respect for nature is part of the lesson too: climbers now carry their rubbish down, because mountains are not dustbins. Success that harms nature is not real success.

Big goal→Small steps→Daily training↓Success
Student کے لیے سمجھو: پہاڑ ضروری نہیں — بڑا مقصد رکھو, چھوٹے steps میں توڑو, روز training کرو, گھر والوں اور استادوں سے مدد لو, اور progress کی diary رکھو جیسے climbers expedition diary رکھتے ہیں.
کامیاب لوگوں کی عادتیں۔

اونچائی پر پتلی ہوا کا سب سے بڑا خطرہ ہے…

  1. too much oxygen
  2. too little oxygen
  3. too much heat
  4. too much rain
Answer / جواب

too little oxygen — At high altitude the air holds less oxygen, so breathing and thinking get harder.

اونچائی پر ہوا میں آکسیجن کم ہوتی ہے، اس لیے سانس لینا اور سوچنا مشکل ہو جاتا ہے۔

MCQ 4: 'Fearless' means…

'Fearless' کا مطلب ہے…

  1. full of fear
  2. without fear
  3. afraid slowly
  4. fearing all

کوہ پیما کو واپس مڑنا چاہیے جب…

  1. the summit is near
  2. weather turns dangerous
  3. the team is happy
  4. photos are done
Answer / جواب

weather turns dangerous — Safety comes first: a dangerous storm means turning back, even near the summit.

حفاظت پہلے ہے: خطرناک طوفان کا مطلب واپس مڑنا ہے، چاہے چوٹی قریب ہی کیوں نہ ہو۔

SHORT QUESTIONS

Short Q1: Why is Samina Baig's climb important for Pakistani girls?

ثمینہ بیگ کی چڑھائی پاکستانی لڑکیوں کے لیے کیوں اہم ہے؟

Answer / جواب

It proved girls can succeed in fields people called 'not for girls', inspiring them to aim high in any field.

اس نے ثابت کیا کہ لڑکیاں ان میدانوں میں کامیاب ہو سکتی ہیں جنہیں لوگ 'لڑکیوں کے لیے نہیں' کہتے تھے، جس سے وہ کسی بھی میدان میں بلند مقصد رکھنے کی ترغیب پاتی ہیں۔

Short Q2: Add a prefix to 'happy' to mean 'not happy'.

'happy' میں سابقہ لگا کر 'خوش نہیں' بنائیں۔

Answer / جواب

unhappy.

unhappy.

Short Q3: Name two dangers of high-altitude climbing.

اونچائی پر چڑھنے کے دو خطرات بتائیں۔

Answer / جواب

Any two: avalanches, thin air, frostbite, sudden storms.

کوئی دو: برفانی تودے، پتلی ہوا، فراسٹ بائٹ، اچانک طوفان۔

LONG QUESTIONS

Long Q1: Explain why mountaineering needs teamwork, not just personal strength.

وضاحت کریں کہ کوہ پیمائی میں صرف ذاتی طاقت نہیں بلکہ ٹیم ورک کیوں چاہیے۔

Answer / جواب

Ropes, loads, rescue and decisions are shared: guides fix ropes, partners catch falls, and teams decide together when weather turns — one person cannot do all of it safely.

رسیاں، بوجھ، بچاؤ اور فیصلے بانٹے جاتے ہیں: گائیڈ رسیاں لگاتے ہیں، ساتھی گرنے سے بچاتے ہیں اور ٹیمیں موسم خراب ہونے پر مل کر فیصلہ کرتی ہیں — ایک شخص یہ سب محفوظ طریقے سے نہیں کر سکتا۔

Long Q2: What habits of a mountaineer can a student copy? Give three.

کوہ پیما کی کون سی تین عادتیں طالب علم اپنا سکتا ہے؟

Answer / جواب

Set a big goal and split it into steps; train/practise daily; keep a progress diary; ask family and teachers for help; respect rules and nature.

بڑا مقصد طے کر کے قدموں میں توڑیں؛ روزانہ مشق کریں؛ ترقی کی ڈائری رکھیں؛ خاندان اور اساتذہ سے مدد مانگیں؛ قوانین اور فطرت کا احترام کریں۔

THINK & ANSWER

Think! 1: A friend says 'girls cannot do hard things'. Answer using this lesson, without being rude.

ایک دوست کہتا ہے کہ 'لڑکیاں مشکل کام نہیں کر سکتیں'۔ اس سبق سے بدتمیزی کے بغیر جواب دیں۔

Answer / جواب

Point to evidence: a Pakistani woman climbed Everest and K2, which are among the hardest climbs on Earth — ability depends on training and determination, not gender.

ثبوت دیں: ایک پاکستانی خاتون نے ایورسٹ اور کے ٹو سر کیے جو زمین کی مشکل ترین چڑھائیوں میں سے ہیں — صلاحیت تربیت اور عزم پر منحصر ہے، جنس پر نہیں۔

📌 باب کا خلاصہ اور رہنمائی — اس باب میں کیا ہے؟
