Source note / ذریعہ نوٹ: This revised page is built from the existing PunjabTest library chapter for this unit. The official Class 7 English textbook was not on disk for this build, so no official-book page coverage is claimed here and no official-book page numbers are given; no official status is claimed for the questions below, which are SLO-based practice questions from the library masters, with the masters' model answers (the English textbook prints no answer keys). The masters explain the unit's skills and themes; they do not reproduce the textbook's lesson text, and neither does this page. The masters follow the SNC English 7 unit list; the book's Review sections are revision pages and are not counted here as separate units. Urdu headings and the Urdu line on the banner are supplied translations for study help — the English textbook prints no Urdu subtitle. یہ نظرثانی شدہ صفحہ اس یونٹ کے موجودہ پنجاب ٹیسٹ لائبریری باب سے بنایا گیا ہے؛ سرکاری کتاب اس تعمیر کے دوران ڈسک پر موجود نہیں تھی۔

1. The Poem's Messageنظم کا پیغام
🏷 Tags: poem, hope, failure, dawn, night, effort, message
ENGLISH

'Think Not All is Over' is a poem of hope. It tells a reader who has failed or lost heart: do not believe the story is finished. Night is darkest before dawn, and a single new effort can change everything.

The poem's speaker uses images of nature — a seed under dark soil, a bird after a storm — to say that endings often hide beginnings. Its tone is encouraging, like a friend's hand on your shoulder.

اردو

'Think Not All is Over' امید کی نظم ہے۔ یہ ناکام یا دل شکستہ قاری سے کہتی ہے: یہ نہ سمجھو کہ کہانی ختم ہو گئی۔ رات طلوع سے پہلے سب سے تاریک ہوتی ہے اور ایک نئی کوشش سب کچھ بدل سکتی ہے۔

نظم کا بولنے والا فطرت کی تصویروں — تاریک مٹی کے نیچے بیج، طوفان کے بعد پرندہ — سے کہتا ہے کہ اختتام اکثر آغاز چھپاتے ہیں۔ اس کا لہجہ حوصلہ افزا ہے، جیسے دوست کا کندھے پر ہاتھ۔

Failure→Hope→New effort↓New beginning
Nazm ka paigham samjho: یہ امید کی نظم ہے — جو ہار گیا یا ہمت ہار بیٹھا اس سے کہتی ہے: یہ مت سمجھو کے سب ختم ہو گیا; رات سب سے اندھیری ہوتی ہے سحر سے پہلے, اور ایک نئی کوشش سب بدل سکتی ہے.
نظم کا پیغام۔
2. Images and Symbolsتصویریں اور علامتیں
🏷 Tags: images, symbols, seed, soil, storm, dawn, hidden growth
ENGLISH

Poets speak in images. A seed in dark soil symbolises hidden growth: nothing is visible, but life is preparing underground. A storm symbolises troubles, and the dawn after it symbolises a fresh start.

Students practise finding such symbols: underline an image, ask 'What does it stand for?', and connect it to a time in their own life when things looked finished but were not.

Seed: hidden growthStorm: troublesDawn: new startNight: despair
Images samjho: اندھیری مٹی میں بیج چھپی ہوئی نشوونما کی علامت ہے — کچھ نظر نہیں آتا مگر زندگی زمین کے نیچے تیاری کر رہی ہوتی ہے; طوفان مصیبت, اور اس کے بعد کی سحر نئی شروعات ہے.
نظم میں علامتیں۔
3. Poetic Devicesشعری صنعتیں
🏷 Tags: devices, repetition, rhyme, personification, hope knocks
ENGLISH

The poem uses repetition ('think not, think not') to hammer home its message, rhyme to make lines musical and memorable, and personification — giving human feelings to nature, as when hope 'knocks' at the door.

Reading a poem aloud helps: stress the repeated words, pause at line ends, and let the rhythm carry the feeling. A poem understood only silently is only half understood.

Repetition→Rhyme→Personification
Devices samjho: Repetition ('think not, think not') پیغام کو پکا کرتی ہے, rhyme lines کو musical اور یادگار بناتا ہے, اور personification nature کو انسانی جذبات دیتا ہے — جیسے امید 'دستک' دیتی ہے.
شعری صنعتیں۔
4. Grammar Focus: Syllables and Stressگرامر: ارکان اور زور
🏷 Tags: syllables, stress, beats, hope, morning, tomorrow, rhythm
ENGLISH

A syllable is a beat in a word: 'hope' has one, 'morn-ing' has two, 'to-mor-row' has three. Poets count syllables to build rhythm. Clap a word slowly to find its beats.

Stress is the louder beat: in 'HOPE-ful' the first syllable is stressed; in 'be-LIEVE' the second is. Saying a word with the wrong stress can confuse listeners.

hope: 1 beatmorning: 2 beatstomorrow: 3 beatsbelieve: stress 2nd
Syllables samjho: Syllable لفظ کی ایک beat ہے — hope میں ایک, morning میں دو, tomorrow میں تین; شاعر rhythm بنانے کے لیے beats ginta ہے, لفظ کو آہستہ تالی baja کر اس کی beats ڈھونڈو.
ارکان اور زور۔
5. When You Feel Like Giving Upجب ہار ماننے کو جی چاہے
🏷 Tags: giving up, rest, review, help, smaller plan, try again
ENGLISH

The poem ends as practical advice: after failure, rest — but do not quit. Review what went wrong, ask a teacher or friend for help, make a smaller plan, and try once more. Most successes are built on earlier failures.

Students write their own four-line stanza of hope, using one nature image and one repeated line, and read it to the class.

Rest→Review→Replan↓Retry
Nakami ke baad samjho: نظم کا عملی مشورہ — ناکامی کے بعد آرام کرو مگر ہار مت mano: غلطی کا جائزہ لو, استاد یا دوست سے مدد لو, چھوٹا plan بناؤ, پھر کوشش کرو; اکثر kamyabiyan nakamiyon پر ہی بنتی ہیں.
ناکامی کے بعد۔

مشکلات کے بعد نیا آغاز — امید کی واپسی۔

Short Q2: Clap out the syllables of 'beautiful'. How many?

'beautiful' کے ارکان تالی بجا کر بتائیں۔ کتنے؟

دہرائی گئی تنبیہ 'think not' — زور دینے کے لیے دہرائی گئی کہ کہانی ختم نہیں ہوئی۔

LONG QUESTIONS

Long Q1: Explain the seed image in detail: why is it a good symbol for hope after failure?

بیج کی تصویر تفصیل سے واضح کریں: ناکامی کے بعد امید کے لیے یہ اچھی علامت کیوں ہے؟

Answer / جواب

A seed looks dead and buried, yet it is alive and growing unseen; likewise a failed student looks finished but may be quietly learning and ready to sprout with one more effort.

بیج مردہ اور دفن لگتا ہے لیکن زندہ اور unseen بڑھ رہا ہے؛ اسی طرح ناکام طالب علم ختم لگتا ہے لیکن خاموشی سے سیکھ رہا ہو اور ایک اور کوشش سے پھوٹنے کو تیار ہو۔

Long Q2: Write a four-line stanza of hope using one nature image and one repeated line.

امید کا چار مصرعوں کا بند لکھیں، ایک فطرتی تصویر اور ایک دہرائی گئی سطر استعمال کر کے۔

Answer / جواب

A good stanza has four lines, one clear nature image (seed, dawn, bird, rain) and a repeated line carrying the hope message, with simple rhyme if possible.

اچھا بند چار مصرعوں پر مشتمل ہو، ایک واضح فطرتی تصویر (بیج، طلوع، پرندہ، بارش) اور امید کا پیغام لے جانے والی دہرائی گئی سطر ہو، ممکن ہو تو سادہ قافیے کے ساتھ۔

THINK & ANSWER

Think! 1: A friend failed an exam and says 'all is over'. Use the poem to answer him in three sentences.

ایک دوست امتحان میں ناکام ہو کر کہتا ہے کہ 'سب ختم ہو گیا'۔ نظم سے تین جملوں میں جواب دیں۔

Answer / جواب

Remind him the poem says night is darkest before dawn; one failure is a seed underground, not a grave; rest, find the mistake, and try again — the story is not over.
