1. A Family Journey on Independence Dayیوم آزادی پر خاندان کا سفر

ENGLISH

The lesson follows a family driving on Independence Day. At a yellow light, the father stops — even though the family is in a hurry — because the red light could come any moment and stopping is safer. Small decisions like this are the whole lesson.

Through conversation, the father explains signals, signs, zebra crossings, footpaths and underpass height limits in simple words a child can remember.

Yellow light: stop→Red: wait→Green: go↓Safety first
Traffic Qawaneen se samjho: Traffic signals.
2. Signals, Signs and Crossings
🏷 Tags: Traffic Laws and Our Responsibilities, Signals, Signs and Crossings, Class 7 Urdu, Chapter 5

ENGLISH

Signals: red means stop, yellow means get ready to stop, green means go (if the way is clear). Signs warn (school ahead), order (speed limit), or inform (hospital this way).

Zebra crossings mark where pedestrians may cross safely; drivers must stop for them. Footpaths exist so walkers do not have to walk on the road among fast vehicles.

Red: stopYellow: readyGreen: goZebra: cross here
Traffic Qawaneen se samjho: Signals and crossings.
3. Why Rules Protect Everyone
🏷 Tags: Traffic Laws and Our Responsibilities, Why Rules Protect Everyone, Class 7 Urdu, Chapter 5

ENGLISH

Traffic rules are not punishments; they are agreements that let thousands of strangers share narrow roads without killing each other. One driver jumping a signal can kill a family that obeyed every rule.

The lesson stresses: rules protect the rule-breaker too. The father who stops at yellow protects his own children first — the car behind him also slows down.

Rules shared→Roads shared→Lives protected↓Everyone safe
Traffic Qawaneen se samjho: Rules protect all.
4. Dangers: One-Wheeling and Speed
🏷 Tags: Traffic Laws and Our Responsibilities, Dangers: One-Wheeling and Speed, Class 7 Urdu, Chapter 5

ENGLISH

The story warns against one-wheeling (riding a motorcycle on one wheel): it is extremely dangerous and illegal, and it has killed many young riders and bystanders. Showing off on a bike is not bravery; it is borrowing death.

Speeding, racing, using a phone while driving, and not wearing a helmet or seat belt are the other great killers on Pakistani roads. A helmet is not for the police — it is for the skull.

One-wheeling: deadlySpeeding: deadlyPhone: deadlyHelmet: life-saving
Traffic Qawaneen se samjho: Road dangers.
5. Our Responsibilities as Pedestrians
🏷 Tags: Traffic Laws and Our Responsibilities, Our Responsibilities as Pedestrians, Class 7 Urdu, Chapter 5

ENGLISH

Children's responsibilities: walk on footpaths, cross only at zebra crossings, look right, left, then right again, never run across a road, and never play on roads.

At night, wear light clothes so drivers can see you. If there is no footpath, walk facing the traffic, on the edge of the road.

Footpath→Zebra crossing→Look both ways↓Walk, never run
Traffic Qawaneen se samjho: Pedestrian rules.

  • (a) He likes waiting
  • (b) Red could come any moment, so stopping is safer ✓
  • (c) His car is slow
  • (d) The police are watching

Red could come any moment, so stopping is safer — Yellow warns that red is coming; stopping early is the safer choice.

MCQ 2: A zebra crossing is used for…

  • (a) parking cars
  • (b) pedestrians to cross safely ✓
  • (c) racing
  • (d) selling goods

pedestrians to cross safely — It marks the place where pedestrians can cross and drivers must stop.

MCQ 3: Why are footpaths built?

  • (a) For parking
  • (b) So pedestrians stay off the road and safe ✓
  • (c) For shops
  • (d) For bicycles only

So pedestrians stay off the road and safe — Footpaths keep walkers away from fast vehicles.

MCQ 4: One-wheeling is described as…

Short Answer Questions
QUESTIONS + ANSWERS
Short Q1: What do red, yellow and green signals mean?

Red: stop. Yellow: get ready to stop. Green: go if the way is clear.

Short Q2: Why should you never play on a road?

Because drivers do not expect children on the road and cannot stop in time; a ball rolling onto the road tempts a child to chase it into traffic.

Short Q3: What is an underpass height limit for?

So tall vehicles do not enter a low underpass and get stuck or crash into it.

Long Answer Questions
QUESTIONS + ANSWERS
Long Q1: Explain why traffic rules protect even the person who breaks them.

Rules coordinate everyone: when all drivers stop at red, the rule-breaker's own family can cross safely, and when he stops at yellow, the car behind him slows too — safety is a shared system, not a personal favour.

Long Q2: Write a road-safety pledge for your class in five points.

A good pledge covers: footpaths, zebra crossings, looking both ways, no playing on roads, helmets/seat belts, and never one-wheeling.

Think & Answer
QUESTIONS + ANSWERS
Think! 1: Your friend wants to try one-wheeling because it looks brave. What do you say?

Real bravery protects life, not risks it: one-wheeling is illegal and has killed riders and bystanders — a brave person shows skill in safe sports, not by borrowing death on a road.
